Al Dhafra Festival concludes 14th edition

AL DHAFRA: Under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Al Dhafra Festival concluded the competitio­ns of its 14th edition on Friday evening.

The festival is organised by the Commitee for the Management of Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programmes in Abu Dhabi, and took place in Madinat Zayed in Al Dhafra region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The closing day of the festival saw the crowning of 30 winners in the Majahim category of the Camel Mazayna, in the presence of Issa Saif Al Mazrouei, Vice Chairman, Commitee for the Management of Cultural and Heritage Festivals; Abdullah Buti Al Qubaisi, Director of Events and Communicat­ion Department of the Commitee; and Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Director of Planning and Projects Department of the Commitee; along with several senior officials, local personalit­ies, and leading camel owners in the UAE and the Arabian Gulf.

Winning first place in the Majahim category this year was the camel owned by Muhammad Saleh Mujren Al Ameri, second place went to the camel owned by Eid Rashid Theban Muhammad Al Mansouri, and third place was awarded to the camel owned by Abdullah Mubarak Ali Al Marri.

Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-chief, Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of the Commitee for the Management of Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programmes, commented that Al Dhafra Festival reflects the legacy of the founding the father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He added that this year’s edition continues the festival’s successive successes over the years, thanks to the atention and care bestowed on the festival and on Emirati culture and heritage by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, under the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representa­tive in Al Dhafra Region, for all festivals and events in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
