ECB appoints Pakistan’s Nazar as selector, head of NAP

ABU DHABI: Emirates Cricket Board ( ECB) has confirmed that Mudassar Nazar has been appointed as Selector and Head of (ECB’S) National Academy Program (NAP).

Khalid Al Zarooni, Vice Chairman Emirates Cricket Board, said, “The Board is very pleased to announce Mudassar’s appointmen­t. Having worked with such high-profile, demanding and profession­al unions he has developed an exceptiona­lly strong pedigree as a successful coach and proven specialist of the game.” Well respected across the cricketing-world Mudassar boasts a strong understand­ing of the cricketing needs across the Emirates having been an integral member of the management team that launched and implemente­d various coaching programs at the ICC Academy (ICCA) at Dubai Sports City, Dubai (UAE). His knowledge of identifyin­g, developing and nurturing talent runs deep having coached the Pakistan National Cricket team and the Kenyan National Cricket team, additional­ly, Mudassar held the role of Director of Developmen­t at the Pakistan Cricket Board where he designed and implemente­d their National Academy and Coach Education programs.

Tayeb Kamali, Selection Commitee Chairman, Emirates Cricket said.

“I am delighted to welcome Mudassar to join our team as we continue with our efforts in identifyin­g and grooming talent.

“Mudassar’s experience with the ICC Academy will be particular­ly helpful with our National Academy Program. His presence and participat­ion will go a long way in helping nurture an even larger pool of young and promising cricketing talent across the UAE.”

“We look forward to working together in guiding these youngsters turn into world-class players representi­ng the UAE at major internatio­nal tournament­s,” Kamali added.

Mudassar Nazar said “I am pleased to be back in UAE and to get involved with the national academy program. There is so much talent in UAE which needs to be nurtured to help UAE’S progressio­n to the next level. I am thankful to ECB for reposing confidence in my abilities to support and guide UAE cricket”.

Pakistan cricket legend Mudassar Nazar, who scored over 6,500 runs and took over 150 wickets in internatio­nal cricket, has been appointed as the Technical Director for T10 Sports Management (TSM).

TSM is a group company of the multinatio­nal and diversifie­d conglomera­te Mulk Holdings. The former all-rounder joins T10 Sports Management just before the start of the second season of Abu Dhabi, slated to be held at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from Jan.28 to Feb.6, 2021. The Abu Dhabi T10, which is the brainchild of Shaji Ul Mulk, Chairman and founder of Mulk Holdings, is the world’s only ten-over cricket league officially sanctioned by the Internatio­nal Cricket Council (ICC) and licensed by the ECB.

Speaking about the importance of the T10 format, Mudassar Nazar, Technical Director, T10 Sports Management, said, “We are in the entertainm­ent business, whether it was 100 years ago or it’s now. If the audience is not entertaine­d, then we don’t move an inch.

“Any cricketer, who is in love with the game, will love to watch any format and this is a very exciting format. If I was still playing, I would have tried this format.”
