Dubai Police raid tourism camp, organiser fined Dhs50,000

DUBAI: Dubai has again shut down a tourism camp for violating COVID-19 guidelines.

The authorities in the emirate have issued strict measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The Dubai Media Office said, “Dubai Police, in cooperation with Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, shuts down a tourism camp for one month and issues the organizer a fine of Dhs50,000 for organising a gathering that is not in adherence to the precautionary measures.”

The Dubai Media office yesterday said, “Dubai Economy warns 6 establishments and fines 8 others over the past 24 hours for not adhering to the precautionary measures set to limit COVID-19.”

Dubai has been clamping down on activities barred due to coronavirus.

The authorities have issued fines up to Dhs50,000 to multiple entities for breaking COVID-19 rules over the past two weeks.

Last week, Dubai Police fined two yacht operators, desert camp organizers and a private party organizer for COVID-19 violations.

The health experts have issued rules and regulation for holding social gatherings in the UAE.

The officials said people should not hold social gathering of more than 4 people without facemasks.

Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, Lt Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, in January urged everyone to follow the precautionary measures and social distancing guidelines to curb the spread of the virus.

The authorities have urged everyone to report any violation of COVID-19 guidelines with the police or the Dubai Consumer Application.

On the other hand, tighter restrictions and additional precautionary measures have been announced by Umm Al Qaiwain’s Local Emergency Crisis & Disasters Management Team as part of the measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The new rules, which came into effect today and will remain in place until further notice, include reducing the capacity of shopping malls, public beaches, parks and cinemas, and suspending all concerts.

Shopping centres will operate at 60 per cent capacity, while the capacity of public beaches and parks has been capped at 70 percent. The capacity of cinemas, fitness centres as well as private beaches and swimming pools in hotels has been reduced to 50 percent. The number of people at weddings and family gatherings has been limited to 10; and 20 for funerals.

A maximum of four people per table is enforced at restaurants and eateries, with the tables spaced two metres apart Inspections will be intensified to ensure compliance.
