UAQ tightens measures against COVID-19

UMM AL QUWAIN: The Crisis, Disaster and Emergency local team in Umm Al Quwain has announced it has adopted new precaution­ary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The team pointed out that the new precaution­ary measures would take effect in the emirate from February 16, 2021 until further notice.

The new measures include reducing people’s presence to 70 per cent in beaches and public parks, 60 per cent in shopping malls, 50 per cent in fitness centres, swimming pools, hotel beaches, cinemas and indoor activities.

The team decided that music concerts be suspended until further notice, adding that no more than 10 people are allowed to atend wedding ceremonies and other family events and no more than 20 people in funerals and majalis Aza’a.

The team affirmed that the competent teams would conduct more inspection tours to ensure that the new precaution­ary measures are followed.

WEAK IMMUNITY MAIN REASON OF INFECTION: The UAE health officials said that they have recorded infections among individual­s ater the first dose of vaccine.

The officials said most of recorded infections are ater the first dose and due to exposure to the virus from the community before the formation of sufficient immunity in the body to prevent the disease, which is expected to be reached at least two weeks ater the second dose.

Authoritie­s said, “We advise all individual­s to commit to taking the second dose, to ensure the highest rate of prevention of the disease, and to continue preventive measures even ater taking both doses.”

If symptoms are moderate or severe and require hospitalis­ation, then we advise individual­s to see their doctor and perform the necessary immunity test to determine whether a second dose is needed. Health officials said, “For people who have been infected ater taking the first dose, and in case of asymptomat­ic or minor symptoms, we advise them to complete the second dose ater full recovery.”
