SHARJAH: An Arab child, 5, was killed ater his body was stuck in the main gate of his family’s house in Wasit district in Sharjah on Tuesday evening.

The boy was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital but died before he arrived in the emergency ward of the hospital.

The parents said that while their son was playing in the outside yard of the house, he was stuck between the gate and the wall of the house, adding that because he was small and weak, he was unable to extricate himself or seek help from his family members.

The child died because he could not get enough oxygen, the parents said, noting that when they discovered he was missing, they started to look for him, only to find him dead.

The child’s uncle rushed to inform the national ambulance, which came immediately and took the child to Al Qasimi Hospital where he failed to respond to the emergency teams’ atempts to rescue him.

The file of the incident was handed over to the concerned police station to investigate the incident and complete the rest of the procedures for handing over the body to his family ater being examined by the forensic lab.

Recently, a father and his daughter drowned to death in the waters of Sharjah on Wednesday. The Indian expats went for a swim near the Corniche beach.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the daughter was drowning. To rescue her, the father jumped into the water and drowned too.

Family members alerted the police about the incident. A rescue team rushed to the site. But it was too late.

Rescuers pulled out the bodies ater they resurfaced. The bodies were transferred to the hospital for legal procedures.

The Sharjah Police urge all community members to adhere to the instructions when going to the beach, follow regulations and preventive measures, swim in areas designated for it, and abide by the instructions of inspectors and rescuers.
