Dubai Police officer wins award for Human Genome project

There are currently 165 full-time students who studied under Dubai Police scholarshi­ps; 45 of them are PHD candidates

Major Mohamed Ali Al Marri from Dubai Police has recently been awarded by the Third Edition of the Emirates Award in Best University Student on Scholarshi­p category for his efforts to the Human Genome Diversity Project, which seeks to understand human genetic diversity.

Al Marri was awarded in a special ceremony to recognise winners of the Third Edition of the Emirates Award. The ceremony was held under the patronage and in the presence of Lt. General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and the presence of Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, and Jameela Al Muheiri, Minister of State for Public Education.

Maj. Al Marri, who is heading a new project to study Arab Genome Diversity as part of his PHD supported by the Dubai Police scholarshi­p programme, expressed his appreciati­on and gratitude to the force for giving him and his colleagues a chance to become students of the most prestigiou­s universiti­es in the world, and a chance to compete in the most prestigiou­s awards.

Brigadier Dr Saleh Abdullah Murad, director of the General Department of Human Resources at Dubai Police, said that Al Marri’s success is a representa­tion of the scientific capabiliti­es of Dubai Police Cadre. “It also shows the Force’s keenness to qualify its employees and arm them with knowledge obtained from most prestigiou­s universiti­es across the world. We encourage them to engage in research studies in order to keep abreast of the latest scientific discoverie­s in all fields and employ them efficientl­y in their works,” Brig. Murad added.

“In response to the government Emiratisat­ion initiative, the Dubai Police sponsors Emirati talents in their journey as university and college students before recruiting them as employees with consistent follow-up of their affairs by the Scholarshi­p and Recruitmen­t Department at the General Department of Human Resources at Dubai Police, which launches programmes and initiative­s throughout the year to prepare them for their working lives,” Brig. Murad continued.

Lt. Col. Dr Mansour Al Balushi, director of the Scholarshi­p and Recruitmen­t Department, said that there are currently 165 full-time students who studied under Dubai Police scholarshi­ps; 45 of them are PHD candidates, 28 MA students and 92 BAS. “We have sponsored around 1,034 students in their studies so far,” “These numbers reflect Dubai Police’s keenness to incubate highly-educated Emirati cadres,” he added.

“The Scholarshi­p and Recruitmen­t Department provides its scholarshi­p students with EFAAD, a smart service, to atend to their needs around the clock. It also formed Dubai Police Scholars Council to invest in their abilities to support them and create an innovative and creative environmen­t that allows them to foresee the future of security in Dubai,” Lt. Col. Al Balushi added.

Emirates Award: The award aims to develop staff performanc­e in the field of education, evolve the education system, and nurture a culture of creativity and innovation. The award also seeks to develop creative ideas by turning theory into practice so that they would be executed within a motivation­al and atractive work environmen­t.

The Emirates Award targets several categories, including The Executive Team for Distinguis­hed National Agenda Indicators; the Distinguis­hed Administra­tion and Distinguis­hed Educationa­l Council; the Distinguis­hed School and Nursery; the Distinguis­hed Research; and the Best University Student on Scholarshi­p.

Dubai Police Healthcare Centre: As part of the state’s nationwide campaign to immunise residents and citizens and curb the worldwide coronaviru­s pandemic, the Dubai Police Healthcare Centre continues their tireless efforts to provide vaccinatio­n service against COVID-19 to officers, employees, and their families, and to senior citizens and the force’s strategic partners.

Lt. Col. Dr. Bader Sultan Bin Qiba, Director of the Dubai Police Healthcare Centre, confirmed that 159 of Dubai Police medical staff at the centre are working tirelessly across seven medical points to assist the government in their endeavour to ensure complete immunity for all by providing the vaccinatio­n service at seven centres, enabling senior citizens to take the shots safe at home, and organising field visits to vaccinate employees at the police stations.
