Dewa scores high in Smart Living

DUBAI: Dubai Electricit­y and Water Authority (Dewa) announced that the Smart Living dashboard has been used 5.5 million times since the launch of the initiative until December 2020, while the feature of viewing, comparing, and downloadin­g bills has been used more than 435,000 times. More than 3,000 customers have used the Away Mode, which sends customers daily or weekly reports by email while away from home.

The customers praised the innovative features which are easy and accessible on Dewa’s website and smart app. They noted that the initiative had helped them beter understand the monthly bill and make smart decisions to conserve and monitor consumptio­n proactivel­y without having to contact Dewa. The customers have also commended the ‘My Sustainabl­e Living Programme’, which helped them reduce their daily consumptio­n by comparing it with similar homes. Customers said that the Dewa Store helped them turn their homes into smart ones through the exclusive offers it provides for smart home systems and devices that control consumptio­n, in addition to water and energy saving devices. Customers said that the Away Mode feature of the Smart Living initiative enabled them to monitor their electricit­y and water consumptio­n while they were away from home. At the same time, the High Water Usage Alert sends them instant alerts in case of leakage of unusual consumptio­n. This helped them fix leakages immediatel­y and stop waste.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, highlighte­d the customer’s substantia­l role in supporting Dewa’s efforts to achieve the wise leadership’s vision and enhance sustainabl­e developmen­t. This is through conserving electricit­y and water and preserving valuable natural resources. “Dewa strives to empower customers to make smart conservati­on decisions. It provides smart and innovative services with added value that uses the latest disruptive technologi­es, smart grids and smart meters to reduce cost and our carbon footprint. Dewa provides awareness and incentive programmes that help customers benefit from the accurate and instant informatio­n provided through our smart channels, so they can resolve any issues that might be causing higher than usual consumptio­n,” said Al Tayer.

Customers can log into their Dewa accounts on the website or smart app and update their ‘Consumptio­n Patern’ file to benefit from the Smart Living initiative services.
