Six persons booked for assaulting 2 Africans

DUBAI: An African watchman, and another five runaway accomplice­s, were prosecuted and referred to Criminal Court ater they assaulted and robbed two brothers of Dhs2,000 in Dubai.

The robbery took place during last October, when the victim and his brother were staying inside their apartment, and were surprised with a knock on their door during a late hour of the night.

The brothers opened the door to find the building’s watchman in the company of five African individual­s, who forced their way into the apartment and grabbed the two victims.

They began to brutally beat the brothers, asking them to give up whatever cash they had. The gang took the brothers’ phones and an amount of Dhs2,000.

The gang fled the scene, and the victims were let with bruises all over the bodies.

Ater a police report was filed, police arrested the watchman who instigated the robbery and helped the runaway defendants to assault the brothers.

It was later revealed that the defendant was having an old dispute with the brothers, and that is why he decided to commit his crime.

YOUNGSTER ARRESTED IN THEFT CASE: During February of 2020, a 24-year-old Arab was arrested by police on burglary charges, ater he robbed a supermarke­t in Dubai of a telephone card and Dhs470.

Court records point out that the young defendant had headed to the supermarke­t with his vehicle and called out for the salesman to make his order. The defendant tricked the salesman and claimed to have Dhs500 that needed to be changed, and asked for a Dhs30 telephone charge card.

When the salesman returned with the card and a Dhs470 change, the defendant suddenly pulled both of them out of his hand and pushed him to the floor, then fled the scene.

The police were alerted about the robbery, and intensive investigat­ions revealed the defendant’s identity who was later apprehende­d and prosecuted for his crime.
