Fire guts Pak family’s Sharjah apartment
SHARJAH: Thirty-five-year-old Victoria Diamond and her mother lost a job and house within one year of COVID-19 hiting the world.
The Pakistani family owned a two-bedroom apartment that caught fire last January, ater a short-circuit unexpectedly sparked the room’s AC.
“My pet dog was the one who alerted my mother about the fire, and I lost one of my two cats duo to the smoke that filled up the place,” Victoria said.
The nervous mother called the neighbours to ask for help, who in their turn informed police and civil teams.
The family lost their 37-year-old home in the blink of an eye, and were let with nothing but their IDS and passports.
Victoria revealed that they are now staying at her friend’s house since the fire, and she has been struggling to find a job and provide for her mother.
The family has also suffered another tragedy ater Victoria’s brother and father passed away and let both women alone to face the world.
The young Victoria now is seeking help of friends to find a job opportunity that will return her life back to normal and help her seek a brighter future.
Recently, the Sharjah Civil Defence teams successfully managed to put out a fire that broke out in Sharjah’s Industrial Area 2 on Saturday aternoon.
The fire took place at a site that contains scrap parts, and fortunately resulted in no injuries.
Civil Defence officials revealed that they had received a call around 4:54 pm reporting the fire, and teams were immediately dispatched to the scene in record time.
On arrival, civil teams used all necessary means to control the fire, and successfully put it out by 5:30pm ater using several cooling strategies.
It was revealed that the scrap parts were flammable material which contributed in the growth of fire once it started.
Concerned authorities took over the fire site ater the flames were put out, and reasons behind what caused the fire are now under investigation.
