Sharjah opens new mosque in Al Dhaid
SHARJAH: The Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah inaugurated the Shifa mosque located in the Al-ateen area in Sharjah.
The place of worship can accommodate around 515 worshippers, including 65 women. It is located along Al Dhaid Road.
The mosque is built on a total land area of 4,601 square metres, and was built according to the Islamic architectural style mixed with modern character, topped by five circular domes and a lighthouse with a height of 21 metres, with the presence of service facilities from toilets, ablution, housing for the imam, and a number of car parks.
The Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah said the new mosque is in line with the vision of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The Sharjah Ruler aims to create and “nurture an atmosphere of faith for the residents of the Emirate”, the authority added.
The Directorate of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah inaugurated two mosques in Kalba that could accommodate 1,260 worshippers, in line with the directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, with the aim of building more mosques in the emirate.
The first is the Haritha Bin Al Numan Mosque, which is located in the Al-saf region built on a total area of 3,000 square metres. It includes service facilities the Imam’s residence and is flanked with a 17.30-metre-tall minaret, and can accommodate 800 worshippers.
The second one is the Al Anwar Mosque, located in Al Dahiyat area, built on a total area of 3,136 square metres, and includes service facilities and the Imam’s residence, flanked by a 29.75-metre-tall minaret, and can accommodate 460 worshippers.
The General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) announced the gradual reopening of mosques and places of worship in industrial cities and labour sites, with all precautionary measures remaining the same as before, including a capacity limit of 30%.
The two government entities confirmed that they will ensure all preventive and precautionary measures are applied in mosques and places of worship before reopening is approved, and they stressed the need for all worshippers to adhere to the safety regulations previously announced regarding the reopening of prayer rooms, which include a physical distancing of 3 metres between worshipers, avoiding gatherings during prayer time and shaking hands in all forms, sterilising the hands before and ater visiting the mosques and places of worship and always wearing masks.
