ABU DHABI: Rain lashed separate parts of the country on Tuesday, due to an extension of a shallow air depression accompanied by an extension of an air depression in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Light rain fell at 3pm on Malaqet in the city of Al Ain, and on Umm Sa’a.

Medium rain fell on Umm Ghafa, also in Al Ain. The lowest temperature in the country, 23.8°C, was recorded on Jabal Al Haban in Fujairah on Tuesday at 1:30am.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) appealed to motorists to be careful while driving vehicles during rain, as rain and dusty winds only served to worsen visibility.

The NCM also advised residents to stay away from flooded areas and places where water would accumulate in the valleys.

The centre expected Wednesday’s weather to be clear and dusty at times during the day, with the formation of low clouds on the eastern coast in the morning, and cumulus clouds in the east in the aternoon.

“The weather will be humid on Wednesday night and Thursday morning over some coastal areas. Winds will be southeasterly turning to northwesterly and northeasterly, light to moderate, active at times, stirring dust, at a speed ranging from 10 to 20 up to 35 km/h.” the NCM clarified.

The sea is expected to be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

Thursday’s weather will be clear and dusty at times during the day with low clouds on the east coast in the morning. It will be humid on Thursday night in some coastal areas.

Thursday’s winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, active at times, and kicking up dust.
