ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-nawaz (PML-N) Vice-president Maryam Nawaz has rubbished any talk of a deal saying that she is not mad to strike a deal ater waging a long struggle.

Talking to media outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), where she came to atend the hearing of her appeal on Tuesday, Maryam said when this government would go then it would never come back to power. Time will come when everyone will have to be answerable, she asserted.

Responding to statement of Prime Minister Imran Khan about engaging estranged people of Balochistan, the PML-N leader said that she is in favour of addressing grievances of Balochs but added that Hazara community was also from the province and Imran refused to visit the protesting families until they buried their dead.

Talking about Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections, Maryam said that everyone knows that position of the PML-N is very strong over there and if free and fair elections are held, her party will emerge victorious.

She said that PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif represented the party in the Swat rally while she was assigned the responsibility of elections in Kashmir.

Responding to a question about her absence from PDM Swat rally, she said that the public meeting was atended by the party president and there was no need for her to also atend the meeting if Shahbaz is already present.

The Islamabad High Court has adjourned Maryam and her husband Muhammad Safdar Awan’s appeals till July 15 ater rejecting their counselled request for puting off the case for three weeks.

A the Islamabad High Court bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the appeals of Maryam and Safdar against their conviction in the Avenfield properties on Tuesday. Both the high-profile petitioners were present in the courtroom.

At the outset of the hearing, Maryam and Safdar’s counsel Amjad Pervez pleaded to the court to put off hearing of the appeals at least for three weeks mentioning that he just recovered from COVID-19 and his back was still hurting.

But Justice Farooq remarked that the case did not complete in just one day saying they needed to start it anyhow. Justice Kiyani said that the court could arrange a chair for the counsel.

Justice Farooq said that he did not want to delay the case for long and the bench fixed July 15 as next date for hearing.
