Sharjah’s firefighte­rs douse car’s blaze

SHARJAH: The Civil Defence teams of Sharjah controlled a fire which broke out in a vehicle in the Samanan area. There were no injuries in the incident.

Details date back to the time when the Operations Room of the Civil Defence Department received a report on a fire in a four-wheeled-drive vehicle near Al Sahaba Mosque in Samanan area, at 10:45pm on Friday.

Instantly, the Civil Defence teams, the national ambulance and police patrols rushed to the scene, where the Civil Defence teams quelled the fire. The vehicle was free of passengers.

The Civil Defence Department in Sharjah appealed to vehicle owners to do the periodic maintenanc­e for their vehicles and provides fire extinguish­ers within vehicles to minimise material losses which may be caused by the sudden fires.

Recently, the Dubai Civil Defence teams were able to control a massive fire that broke out in a car showroom in the Ras Al Khor area, Dubai, causing damage to 55 cars that were being displayed in 8 showrooms. No injuries were reported, the Civil Defence confirmed.

The operations room of the Dubai Civil Defence received a report at 5:28am, stating that a car showroom in Ras Al Khor area had caught fire. Instantly, the firefighti­ng teams were dispatched from Nad Al Sheba Civil Defence Station as a first responder. In six minutes, the team arrived at the scene, where the fire was found to be massive and engulfing neighbouri­ng showrooms. They immediatel­y proceeded with the extinguish­ing operations.

They received immediate support from the Rashidiya Fire and Rescue Station, Port Said Station and Al Qusais Station.

At 6:12am, the accident commander announced that the fire was under control without any injuries or deaths, confirming that 55 cars from 8 showrooms were damaged at the accident site. At 6:53am, the cooling operations were completed before handing over the site to the competent authoritie­s to conduct investigat­ions and find out the circumstan­ces behind the incident.
