Khalifa clears 10 principles to work as core guidelines till ’71

Decree stipulates that all ministries, federal and local government authoritie­s, institutio­ns should adhere to these principles for next 50 years; VP meets Pak President at Expo 2020 Dubai, explores ways to strengthen ties.

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued decree No.15 for 2021 on the adoption of UAE’S 10 principles for the next 50 years.

The decree stipulates that all ministries, federal and local government authoritie­s, and institutio­ns in the country should adhere to these principles and use them as guidelines in all their directives

and decisions, as well as work on the principles’ implementa­tion through their plans and strategies.

The 10 principles will be the core guidelines for all UAE’S institutio­ns to strengthen the union, build a sustainabl­e economy, harness all possible resources to build a more prosperous society, foster positive regional and global relations to achieve national goals, and support peace and stability across the world.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met Dr Arif Alvi, President of Pakistan at Expo 2020 Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; and Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

The meeting explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in a range of fields including trade, investment, energy and agricultur­e, among others.

The meeting also discussed ways to boost trade volumes between UAE and Pakistan in the light of new emerging opportunit­ies.

Alvi stressed that the two countries share a robust relationsh­ip rooted in cultural affinities and strengthen­ed by the presence of Pakistani expatriate­s in the UAE.

He expressed his gratitude to the UAE and its leadership for the welfare of Pakistani expatriate­s living in the UAE.

In an interactio­n with media persons ater the formal inaugurati­on of Pakistan Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020, the president said the country is innovating a future of immense opportunit­ies for growth.

He said that Pakistan is a beautiful mix of different cultures, ethnicitie­s and civilizati­ons, and stressed the need for projecting its positive image as a peaceful country.

The president said Pakistan Pavilion is the true depiction of cultural coexistanc­e and gave the ‘best flavour of Pakistan’ for the outside world.

He lauded the work of artists who turned the pavilion into a mega piece of art. Earlier, the president along with Begum Samina Alvi inaugurate­d the Pakistan Pavilion, themed as ‘Hidden Treasure.’

The president visited different sections of Pakistan Pavilion and appreciate­d the creative display of the pavilion showcasing the unexplored riches of the country.

He interacted with artists Rashid Rana and Nisar Malik, and curator Noor Jahan Bilgrami for the beautiful artistic melange of culture, history and crat.

A large number of Pakistani expatriate­s gathered outside the pavilion to cheer President Alvi and raised the slogans of Pakistan Zindabad (Long live Pakistan).

Alvi, who is on a two-day visit to the UAE, was accompanie­d by Afzaal Mahmood, Pakistan Ambassador to the UAE, top government officials, diplomats, media representa­tives and leading Pakistani businessme­n. He added that Pakistan-uae ties is on a solid growth trajectory and is marching ahead.

With the theme ‘Hidden Treasure’, the Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai seeks to showcase the richness and diversity of the country.

Aimed at enhancing the country’s tourism, commerce and investment, the Pavilion is primed to take visitors on a voyage through time while featuring the unexplored and undiscover­ed riches of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s pavilion at Expo is divided into spaces where visitors can discover unique or litleknown aspects of the country’s archaeolog­ical treasures, handicrats, natural resources, tourist sites, food, culture, music and art through an immersive experience.

Being held for the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, Expo 2020 Dubai houses the pavilions of 192 countries participat­ing in the event as well as those of diverse organisati­ons from across the world. The global show runs for 182 days until March 31, 2022.
