Rashid Centre engages teachers, parents and students

DUBAI: The ease in the restrictio­ns ater the Covid -19 have been encouragin­g academic institutio­ns to bring back their regular activities to engage teachers, parents as well as students.

In this regard, the Rashid Centre is organizing an Open Day on October 20 at the Center, from 10am to 2pm, inviting new parents, students from universiti­es as well as representa­tives of organizati­ons to get know how we are running our overall operations to maintain all the safety measures for the students of determinat­ion.

This was stated by Sandra Ugalde, Head Teacher at the Center while talking to the Gulf Today.

“We planned our Open Day last year but due to Covid-19 and restrictio­ns by the government to curb the coronaviru­s, we postponed and now the situation is improved and the restrictio­ns are lited so we are holding this huge event. The open day will help new parents with children of determinat­ion or children facing learning difficulti­es at the mainstream schools,” she said.

During the Open Day, the parents and guests will be briefed on the various ongoing educationa­l and rehabilita­tion activities for the students as well as highlighti­ng the Out-patients facility available at the Center ater 2pm to 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 6pm on Saturdays.

“We are also planning to give our guests first-hand experience of the services through tour around the Centre,” she said.

She further mentioned that the event will be a huge opportunit­y for university students to be placed as volunteers and get experience to support their degrees. Volunteeri­ng in the Center will help students to get placement easily in job market while having experience of educationa­l training by spending time with children of determinat­ion,” she added.

She further added that the organizati­on to atend the open day will give them an opportunit­y to see the services of the Center for people of determinat­ion, safety measures taken by the management and health regulation­s to protect the children.

“The Open Day will pave the way for organizati­ons to play their role as CSR activities at the centre besides create awareness sessions for their staff with the collaborat­ion of the Rashid Centre,” she added.

The center offers a number of services to Out-patients including occupation­al therapy, physiother­apy, speech & language therapy, behavior management, hydrothera­py and various educationa­l programmes to its over 200 students of determinat­ion.

The head teacher shed light on the overall situation and said that the during the pandemic, students of determinat­ion were provided online classes but for many it was not beneficial.
