- NNI News Service

Lahore:thenationalaccountabilitybureau(nab) has launched an inquiry against Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Khan, a close friend of former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi.

In this regard, NAB’S Director General in Lahore has been directed to conduct an inquiry as per law.

Huge turnover amounting to Rs847 million has been found in her account during the last 3 years, which does not commensurate with her stated account profile.

These credits were received in her personal account and withdrawn immediately ater credit within a short time period.

Multiple adverse media reports were found where Farah Khan was alleged to be involved in asset beyond legal means.

While reviewing the income tax returns of Farah Khan, it was allegedly observed that her assets have significantly increased from the year 2018 onwards for unknown reasons.

In a separate development, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday closed the Malam Jabba corruption reference for “want of evidence.”

A two-member bench of the PHC, consisting of Justice Roohul Ameen and Justice Ishtiaq Ahmed, heard the case.

During the hearing of cases of alleged corruption in Malam Jabba, Billion Tree Tsunami and Bank of Khyber (BOK) projects, the NAB submited to the court its Executive Board’s meeting report, which disclosed that no “irregularity” had been found in the project.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Roohul Amin said that Bok’s case had been separated from the rest and would be heard later.

Counsel for the NAB told the court that references were being filed in the Billion Tree Tsunami project, while as far as the BRT project case was concerned, the Supreme Court had granted “stay” in it.

Meanwhile, the new government has decided to file reference against Imran and several other members of the former government under Article 6 of the Constitution.

According to sources, the government will file reference against President Arif Alvi, former prime minister Imran Khan, former deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri and Governor Punjab Omar Sarfraz Cheema.

Ministry of Law & Justice and Ministry of Interior have started preparation of the reference.

Sources said that president and former deputy speaker allegedly violated the Constitution on directions of Imran while Governor Punjab Cheema violated constitution by sabotaging constitutional process in Punjab Assembly. The concerned departments have started gathering record of assemblies and court observations and directions which could be used as evidence in the reference.
