Steer clear of fireworks during Eid, Dubai Police tell residents

The Dubai Police General Command has launched an awareness campaign titled ‘Fireworks are More Dangerous Than You Think’ aimed at raising awareness about the hazards of fireworks.

Buti Ahmad Bin Darwish Al Falasi, Director of Security Awareness at Dubai Police, stressed that the initiative reflects Dubai Police’s keenness on protecting children, families and society in Dubai.

“Dubai Police are always keen on protecting society from those who take advantage of the holy month and the joyful Eid to illegally sell firecracke­rs and endanger the society”, he added.

Al Falasi explained that the campaign aims to spread awareness among society about the risks associated with fireworks, seize unlicensed firecracke­rs, impose strict punishment on the violators, and activate communicat­ion and coordinati­on between government­al and private institutio­ns to combat these phenomena.

“Through the campaign, we seek to inform parents and children about how dangerous fireworks can be as they might cause burns, permanent or temporary injuries, and damage property,” he continued.

The campaign aims to spread awareness on the risks associated with fireworks, and impose strict punishment on the violators

and report vendors or companies that sell material that may harm the community by calling Dubai Police’s Call Centre 901.

Under Article 54, any person trading in, importing, exporting, or manufactur­ing fireworks or geting them into or out of the country without a licence, shall be imprisoned for not less than one year and be fined not less than Dhs100,000 or either of the said punishment.

DUBAI POLICE ANNOUNCE EID CANNON LOCATIONS: The Dubai Police General Command announced six locations in the emirate for Eid cannon that will fire two shots to mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan and announce the commenceme­nt of Eid Al Fitr.

Brigadier Rashid Al Falasi, Acting Director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency, congratula­ted citizens, residents and visitors in all parts of the Emirates on the occasion of Eid Al-fitr.

He added that they had stationed Eid cannon in six different locations: the Grand Zabeel Mosque in Zabeel, Mankhool Eid prayer ground, Al Baraha Eid prayer ground, Nad Al Hamar, Hata, and the Nad Al Sheba Grand Mosque.

Major Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, Commander of the Artillery Unit in the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency, said that Dubai Police strive to keep the tradition alive as the shooting of cannon announces the end of Ramadan and celebrates the beginning of Eid Al Fitr.

DUBAI POLICE HONOUR PARTNERS OF ‘TAKATUF’VOLUNTEERI­NGINITIATI­VE:LIEUTENANT­GENERAL Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commanderi­n-chief of Dubai Police, honoured the charitable institutio­ns and societies, partners of the ‘Takatuf’ initiative, with the aim of promoting community partnershi­p, tolerance and solidarity among all segments of society, promoting safe driving, and preserving the safety of drivers and road users during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Lt. Gen. Al Marri praised the fruiful cooperatio­n with various charitable organisati­ons in the emirate, which had a great impact on the success of the ‘Takatuf’ initiative, which distribute­d thousands of itar meals to motorists, stressing Dubai Police’s keenness to build bridges of permanent cooperatio­n with these charitable organizati­ons, and to enhance joint cooperatio­n with them, especially in projects and initiative­s that achieve its strategic objectives of ensuring the happiness of society.

At the end of the ceremony, Lieutenant­general Abdullah Al-marri, accompanie­d by Expert Major General Khalil Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-chief for Criminal Investigat­ion Affairs, and Brigadier Abdullah Khadim Surur Al-ma’sam, head of Dubai Police Council for Directors of Police Stations, honoured the charitable institutio­ns and societies who partnered with “Takatuf” initiative, including the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), Red Crescent Society, Beit Al Khair Society, the Dubai Charitable Society, Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation for Charitable Activities, Dar Al Ber Society, Tarahum Charity Foundation, Watani Al Emarat Foundation, and Aster Clinics Group.

Earlier, Dubai Police announced a donation of Dhs1 million to support the humanitari­an efforts of the UAE, the region’s largest campaign of its kind to provide food support to the underprivi­leged and undernouri­shed in less fortunate communitie­s across 50 countries.
