3,322 more doses of COVID-19 vaccine administer­ed

ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced that 3,322 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given in the past 24 hours.

The total number of doses provided up to Wednesday stands at 24,743,155 with a rate of vaccine distributi­on of 250.17 doses per 100 people.

This is in line with the Ministry’s plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to all members of society and efforts to reach acquired immunity resulting from the vaccinatio­n, which

will help reduce the number of cases and control the virus.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced that it conducted 88,359 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronaviru­s cases and carry out the necessary care treatment. As part of its intensifie­d testing campaign, MOHAP announced 199 new coronaviru­s cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 899,441.

According to the Ministry, the infected individual­s are from various nationalit­ies, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

The Ministry added that no Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, leaving the death toll unchanged at 2,302.

MOHAP also noted that an additional 280 individual­s had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 883,160.

Moreover, the number of coronaviru­s infections around the world have reached over 514. 9 million cases, while the total deaths have risen to more than 6.2 million.

The number of vaccine doses administer­ed worldwide has also increased more than to 11.3 billion doses.

Mainland China reported 5,498 new COVID-19 cases on May 3, including 362 symptomati­c cases and 5,136 asymptomat­ic infections, the National Health Commission said on Wednesday.

That was down from 6,074 new cases a day earlier, of which 384 were symptomati­c and 5,690 were asymptomat­ic, Reuters reported.

There were 16 new deaths, all in the financial hub of Shanghai, down from 20 the previous day, taking the toll to 5,128.

Mainland China had 218,198 confirmed infections by May 3, authoritie­s said.

South Korea recorded 49,064 new COVID-19 infections, including 29 from overseas, bringing the total caseload to 17,395,791, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).
