Keralite nurse dies in RAK road accident

RAS AL KHAIMAH: A Keralite nurse Tintu Paul, based in Ras Al Khaimah, died in a horrific car accident while returning with her family from their holidays in the Jebel Jais mountains.

The 36-year-old nurse’s husband Kripa Shankar, and their children Kritin Shankar, Adin Shankar and mother-in-law all sustained injuries in the accident and are in hospital.

The accident took place on May 3. According to the hospital, her husband and son are in a critical condition and in the ICU.

The RAK Police and Civil Defence rushed to the scene. Preliminar­y investigat­ions revealed that the car lost control while descending from the mountain and veered off the road and crashed.

The Air Ambulance rescued the injured from the site and brought them to the hospital. Tintu was a nurse at the Rak Hospital Clinic in Al Hamra.they were returning ater marking the Eid holidays in the Jebel Jais mountains.

The injured were taken to Al Zakhar Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. The hospital said that husband Kripa Shankar and son Kritin were moved to the intensive care unit with spinal injuries. The case has been moved to the UAE Public Prosecutio­n for the legal procedures.

Recently, a famous Keralite biker and a former atestation services officer at the Indian Consulate in Dubai died in a motorbike accident in Sharjah’s Kalba area on Saturday.

The Malayalee bike racer has been identified as Japin Jayaprakas­h, a resident of Kozhikode Balussery Estate, Kerala.

He was 37 years old. Japin was on his morning bike ride session when the accident took place.

Sharjah Police revealed that the 37-year-old Indian man died at the site of the crash ater his bike hit a concrete barrier on the road.

According to the police, the operations room received a call at 7.50am, reporting the accident on Sharjah-kalba Road.

He was rushed to a hospital but could not be saved. He is survived by his wife Dr Anju Japin and two children.

Japin was a sportsman and participat­ed in many internatio­nal bike rides. As soon as the news came to light, rich tributes started pouring in for the ill-fated biker.

A close friend of Japin who also went to school with him said he couldn’t get over news of his death. “We were family. We were supposed to start business together,” he said.
