Sultan chairs periodic meeting of Arabic Language Academy

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the Arabic Language Academy (ALA), chaired, on Monday, the periodic meeting of the ALA at its headquarte­rs in the University City in Sharjah.

The meeting dealt with a number of topics related to the activities and efforts of the ALA in implementi­ng its main competenci­es to preserve the Arabic language and support all its fields.

Dr Sheikh Sultan approved a number of new projects that the ALA will work to implement in coordinati­on with partners from institutio­ns concerned with the Arabic language from different countries of the world.

He listened to a detailed explanatio­n about the work progress in the ALA and its various administra­tive affairs, in order to provide a stimulatin­g environmen­t for its employees, provide the services necessary to perform their roles, and implement various activities.

The meeting dealt with a number of topics related to the activities of the ALA in implementi­ng its main competenci­es to preserve the Arabic language and support all its fields

to support Arabic language academies in order to achieve integratio­n between linguistic academies to advance the Arabic language and work to enhance its global spread, and to come up with the best contributi­ons at the level of publicatio­ns of dictionari­es, studies and research.

The meeting also discussed supporting the efforts of the Arabic language in the African and European continents in conjunctio­n with the great spread of the language in many countries and the demand for it by various individual­s and interested parties.

Dr Sheikh Sultan was briefed on the latest developmen­ts in the completion of the historical dictionary of the Arabic language, where he had launched the first 17 parts of it last November during the opening of the 40th edition of the Sharjah Internatio­nal Book Fair. He highlighte­d keenness in achieving as much as possible during the coming period while preserving accurate dating and documentat­ion.

The meeting also discussed plans to develop “Al Arabiya Lisani” magazine, which is issued by the ALA, in terms of knowledge and linguistic content, and diversific­ation of linguistic and media fields.

Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasti­ng Authority (SBA), and Dr. Mohammed Safi Mustghanmi, Secretary-general of ALA in Sharjah, attended the meeting.

SHARJAH RULER ISSUES EMIRI DECREE ON SHARJAH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Emiri Decree No.36 for 2022 regarding formation of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

The decree stipulated that the board of directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry would be re-formed under the chairmansh­ip of Abdullah Sultan Mohammed Al Owais, and the membership of following:

1. Sheikh Majid Bin Faisal Bin Khalid Bin Khalid Al Qasimi.

2. Ahmed Mohammed Obaid Issa Al Naboodah.

3. Jamal Muhammad Sultan Bin Howiden.

4. Halima Hamid Ali Al Owais.

5. Raghda Humaid Omran Taryam.

6. Ziyad Mahmoud Khairallah Al Haji.

7. Muhammad Ahmad Muhammad Al Shehhi.

8. Sultan Muhammad Hussain Al Mulla.

9. Abdullah Ibrahim Deaifis.

10. Obaid Awad Al Tunaiji.

11. Ali Obaid Ali Obaid Al Zaabi.

12. Ali Muhammad Abdullah Al Khayal.

13. Mohammed Rashid Ali Al Dimas.

14. Muhammad Ali Marzouq bin Kamel.

15. Mohammed Hilal Al Hazami.

16. Nasser Mosbeh Ahmed Al Tunaiji.

17. Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir. According to the Decree, the term of membership in the Council is four years, starting from the date of its first meeting, and may be extended for a similar period, provided that the Council continues to conduct its business at the end of its term until a new council is appointed.
