Dubai Police enhance emirate’s position as world’s safest place
The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Sharjah Branch (AASTS) awarded Professional Diploma in Maritime Security degrees to 20 Dubai Police personnel
The Dubai Police General Command is participating in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2022 to showcase its latest smart police and community services and enhance the emirate’s position as the world’s safest and happiest haven for tourists and visitors.
Lieutenant-general Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, visited the force’s stand at the ATM and reviewed the showcased smart services and applications of Dubai Police’s different departments and commitees including the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the General Department for Community Happiness, the General Department of Artificial Intelligence, the Positive Spirit Initiative, and the Esaad Privilege Card Commitee.
Lt. Gen. Al Marri commended the efforts of the team participating in the Arabian Travel Market, stressing the constant keenness of the Dubai Police to participate in important tourism events and exhibitions to showcase their innovative and latest smart services that fulfil the force’s strategic objectives of ensuring the safety, security and happiness of all tourists and community members.
At the Dubai Police stand, ATM visitors can learn more about some of the important features available on the Dubai Police smart app and website that serve the emirate’s tourists and all citizens and residents alike. Visitors can also learn more about the blockchain-enabled plaform that effectively and efficiently issues lost passport certificates.
The Dubai Police stand is also displaying the various services provided by the Dubai Smart Police Station (SPS), which operates without human intervention and provides policing services in seven languages round the clock. The stand also highlights the offers and discounts offered by the Esaad card and the activities organised by the community-based initiative ‘Positive Spirit’, in addition to highlighting many police services, namely: the ‘Reporting Minor Traffic Accidents’ service, the ‘We Are All Police’ service, and the ‘Police Eye’ service.
FIRST BATCH OF POLICE OFFICERS RECEIVED PROFESSIONAL TRAINING BY AASTS-SHARJAH: Having completed 14 weeks of training in maritime security and safety, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Sharjah Branch (AASTS) awarded Professional Diploma in Maritime Security degrees to 20 Dubai Police personnel. Held in cooperation with the Department of Academic Training Affairs at Dubai Police, the study programme supports Dubai Police and the Arab Academy’s shared vision of enhancing maritime security with the help of advanced solutions, and best practices in maritime security training as per international standards.
The diploma course incorporated both, virtual classes and practical training in Jebel Ali Port, Port Rashid, and the Academy’s state-of-the-art campus. The programme educated Dubai Police personnel in diverse areas related to maritime security and safety. These areas included, ship components, navigational devices, coastal navigation and positioning mechanisms, IMO rules and regulations, international conventions and treaties, and maritime laws and arbitration. Trainees also received education on maritime safety and communications, international regulations for preventing collisions at sea, ship manoeuvres, emergency procedures, ship and port security, as well as security risk assessment.
During the course of the programme, Dubai Police personnel were awarded a total of seven specialised certificates in maritime security.
