Legend Mayweather ready to take on Moore

-

DUBAI: Floyd Mayweather says he’s ready to fight whatever comes his way in his boxing exhibition match against Don Moore at the inaugural Global Titans Dubai on Saturday.

In the headline event of eight-round showpiece event at the Global Titans Fight Series taking place on the Bur Al Arab helipad, Mayweather promises to put on a spectacular show against his former sparring partner.

Mayweather will enter the ring for the third time since retiring from professional boxing in 2017 ater defeating UFC legend Conor Mcgregor.

During a pre-fight news conference at the Dubai Sports Council headquarters, the former five-time world champion — who hanged his gloves in 2017 with a 50-0 record — vowed to offer the people a competitive and thrilling fight against his opponent Moore.

Although Moore is unbeaten at 18-0-1, he has not competed since 2016.

“There’s a significant difference between fighting inside a boxing gym and boxing under the lights,” Mayweather said when asked what challenge he expected from Moore.

“Because there are a lot of men who can do well in a boxing gym but not so well under the lights. Likewise, vice versa. That is how it operates. “However, Don is a formidable opponent. He, like myself, is unbeaten for a cause. He hasn’t fought as many times as I have because he hasn’t had the chance.

Someone, however, must provide him with the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities and potential.

“We’ve worked together before, so we decided to do it under the lights today.”

So we made the decision to come here. And on Saturday, we’re both going out to do what we need to do,” he added.

Post his retirement, Mayweather took on Youtuber Logan Paul in a much-anticipated exhibition fight in June 2021, which exceeded 1 million pay-per-view buys. Further, amongst the top 10 highest-grossing PPV boxing fights of all time include five fights featuring Mayweather with four them making it to the top ranking.

A fight with social media star Paul resulted in no winner ater the fight went the full eight rounds, though Mayweather easily handled Paul.

Moore, who was coached by Mayweather’s uncle Roger and is one of his most trusted sparring partners, said he will take advantage of the occasion to show off his abilities.

“I have amazing talent; Floyd has terrific talent,” Moore remarked.

“Both of us are unbeaten warriors.

I’ve been in the ring with him several times before. So all I have to do now is show up.

“The best one wants to make an impression,” he added.

The spectacular Global Titans fight card will also feature fights between MMA legend Anderson Silva and UAE Warriors champion Bruno Machado, a former world champion in two weight classes, Badou Jack and former Egyptian boxing sensation Hany Atiyo in addition to a ladies fight between Delfine Pasoon and Elhem Mekhaled.

UFC legend Silva will look to continue building on his boxing momentum on the event.

Silva has defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via decision and Tito Ortiz via knockout since his UFC career came to an end.

Global Titans Fight Series are incredible boxing and MMA events, featuring the best fight champions in the world.

All Global Titans events are held at iconic international locations creating spectacular live shows.

The will also be the first of its kind Nft-enabled boxing event which is billed as “The Showcase in the Skies of Dubai.

“Being the first organisation in the world to provide an NFT enabled live stream sports event is no easy task. But the understanding and awareness of NFTS are still growing. It is of great importance to engage with the early adopters and embrace them into this exciting Web3 project,” said Uday Singh, Global Titans CEO.

“The Burj Al Arab represents the heartbeat of Dubai. What beter place to hold a mega boxing event than the iconic helipad!
