KOCHI: Mother of Malayalam film actor and producer Vijay Babu who is on the run following #Metoo allegations from a young actress, approached the Kerala chief minister and state police chief seeking a investigation into the ‘plot behind the sexual assault case.’

His mother Maya Babu claimed that her son was framed by an Ernakulam-based group with links to the film industry.

“Afalserapeallegationhasbeenlevelledagainst Babu at the behest of a group active in the film industry in order to defame him,” Maya Babu said in her complaint to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and DGP Anil Kanth. She also claimed that the actress filed the complaint ater she was not given another chance in his upcoming film.

According to Maya Babu, the complainant was on good terms with Babu.

“She had acted in one of his film projects, but went against him all of a sudden ater she was not given another offer. A probe should be held to find out who prompted her to file the false complaint and the likely conspiracy behind it,” Maya stated in her complaint. She alleged that a group of filmmakers based in Kochi is behind the actress filing a sexual assault complaint against her son.

She also complained that some are trying to tarnish the image of Vijay Babu.

Meanwhile, police have intensified the move to bring Vijay Babu to Kerala.

“He will hopefully be in custody in three days,” said city police commissioner CH Nagaraju.

A Blue Corner notice has been issued against Babu by Interpol ‘to find/identify/receive information about a person who is on the run.’

Babu had told police that he is on a business tour abroad and cannot appear for interrogation till middle of May. However, the police asked him to return immediately. The Crime Branch has sought Interpol help to find the address of Babu. A look out notice has been already issued. He will be taken into custody as soon as he lands in India.

Police have also initiated a probe into his financial dealings, following allegations that Babu had persuadedsomewell-offexpatstofundfilmproductions under Friday Film House banner and used it as plank to allure young and aspiring women artistes
