‘Conspiracy’ being hatched to kill me, Imran tells supporters

Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan said that a “conspiracy” was being hatched to take his life, and despite knowing about it earlier, he has now enough evidence to confirm it, the media reported on Sunday.

Addressing a rally of his supporters in Sialkot late on Saturday, Imran said he has recorded a video of the characters behind the “conspiracy” against his government, and if something happens to him, it will be released, Geo News reported.

The PTI chairman, in light of the alleged plot to kill him, said he has recorded a video and stored it in a “safe place” in which he has mentioned each and every character that was behind the “conspiracy” to oust his government.

“They (without specifying) have decided to kill Imran Khan. And this is why I have recorded this video as I don’t consider what I do as politics, but this is jihad to me,” the ousted premier said.

Imran said he has named everyone, the people who were involved in the “conspiracy” abroad and at home.

“I have said in the video that the names of

Imran said he had recorded a video message and kept it at a ‘safe place’ in which he had mentioned each and every character that was behind the ‘conspiracy’ to oust his government

every person who conspired against my government are etched on my heart.”

The PTI chairman said the reason behind his video was that in Pakistan, powerful people are not held accountable, thus, through this video, he will expose everyone who went “against the country’s interest,” reports Geo News.

Imran said that during his tenure, he wanted to hold the corrupt politicians accountable, but the “powerful people” who could do that have now accepted corruption as a norm.

The ousted prime minister urged people to come out against the government and support the PTI as if they do not do this, “you will have no future.”

Imran said the judiciary took a good initiative by taking a suo motu on the night of the no-confidence vote and opened the gates of the courts. He told the judiciary that Rs24 billion corruption cases were filed against Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz, and his brother, Suleman Shahbaz. “So tell me a country where the (authorities) make cases against you and when you come to power, you remove all those officials who were investigating the cases against the corrupt politicians,” Imran said.

He paid tribute to former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director Dr Rizwan, who was bold enough to continue investigating corruption cases against the “Sharif mafia.” But when the PMLN came to power, “Dr Rizwan was pressurised; Hamza Sharif threatened him and Dr Rizwan came under severe pressure, had a heart atack and passed away.”

Earlier, the PTI was stopped by police and the district administration of Sialkot from arranging a rally at the CTI ground with law enforcement resorting to tear gas and batons to disperse the party supporters who resisted the move.

The law enforcement agencies moved on the request of the Christian community that argued that the ground was meant for sacred purposes and not for political activities.

During the dispute, the police arrested PTI leader Usman Dar and several other party activists for making arrangements for the planned rally that was to be addressed by party chairman.

All the detainees were later released. The PTI agreed to hold the public meeting at another venue in Sialkot.

However, PTI activists stood on top of a stationary crane in what seemed to be an attempt to prevent the policed from dismantling rally preparations.

Imran took to his Twiter handle to announce that he would still go to Sialkot. “What [the] imported government did in Sialkot against our leadership and workers is outrageous, but not unexpected,” he said. “This bunch of criminals out on bail & their convict mafia boss in London have always used fascist tactics against opponents.”

Reacting to the Sialkot police and local administration’s action against PTI workers, Imran said when the PTI was in power, it did not stop the then-opposition from holding long marches, rallies or sit-ins. “Every three months, they (PMLN would come to Islamabad) to oust our government. Biggest disease Asif Ali Zardari and the person who sells diesel permits, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, were also with you then,” Imran said.
