Maktoum opens Smart Salem centre for medical fitness test
Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, on Wednesday inaugurated the Smart Salem centre at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), the stateof-the-art facility provides swit medical screening for residence visas, allowing customers to obtain medicalfitnessresultswithin30minutes.thesecond facility of its kind to open in Dubai, the centre was established through a public-private collaboration. The first Smart Salem facility, located in City Walk, was inaugurated in 2020.
During his visit to the centre, Sheikh Maktoum was received by Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA); Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-general of the Dubai Health Authority; senior representatives from Smart Salem, and other officials.
Sheikh Maktoum toured the facility, which has the capacity to cater to 800 customers per day.

blood collection system of its kind in the region as well as cuting-edge technologies. The centre is 100 per cent digital and paperless.
Spread across 12,000 square feet, the facility is designed to provide an exclusive experience for customers and removes the need for queuing up for medical tests.
The one-stop-shop features seven private blood collection rooms, three X-ray rooms, an on-site laboratory, eight smart check-in kiosks, in addition to an Emirates ID biometrics office and an Amer support office. Smart Salem in DIFC is also equipped with AI and smart automation and features a hygiene robot, a robot barista and transportation robots.
Commenting on the inauguration of the new centre,heawadhseghayeralketbi,said:“thelaunch of the new Smart Salem centre showcases Dubai’s drive to implement the latest technologies across all sectors to enhance the customer experience, reduce waiting time and raise service efficiency.
The facility in DIFC will provide customers with high-quality services in a comfortable and exclusive seting. Located in the heart of Dubai, the state-ofthe-art facility reflects the emirate’s commitment to provide exceptional, technology-driven services that can enhance people’s happiness.”
Emirates ID biometrics and other visa application support services will soon be available on-site at the new facility, providing customers with a fast, easy and comfortable residence visa processing experience.
Both Smart Salem centres in City Walk and DIFC are open six days a week from Sunday to Friday. Customers will be able to visit the location and receive their digital visa within just 60-90 minutes.
The third Smart Salem centre is expected to open in TECOM by the end of this year.
A couple of days ago, Sheikh Maktoum had launched `Thabat’, a programme aimed at boosting the growth, sustainability and continuity of family-owned businesses.
This was under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop a comprehensive business strategy to support the growth of family-owned businesses in the UAE within the framework of the economic goals of the Year of the Fitieth initiative.
Sheikh Maktoum had said: “Family businesses represent one of the key pillars of the UAE’S economic vision and strategy, and are among the highest priorities on the country’s development agenda. Family businesses constitute a key engine of growth and are a vital element of our plans to promote development driven by knowledge, innovation and creativity.”
“The `Thabat’ programme seeks to support and enable family businesses to diversify into new business sectors, in line with the UAE’S vision for the next fity years,” Sheikh Maktoum added.
The first initiative of its kind aimed at building the capabilities of family businesses, `Thabat’ will assist companies in transforming their entrepreneurial ideas into viable business projects with the support of advanced technologies. The programme will also help them enter sectors outside their traditional fields, and encourage them to embrace advanced knowledge-driven industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, agricultural technology, space sciences and renewable energy.
