Fog blankets parts of UAE for 9 hours

SHARJAH: Fog blanketed some coastal and interior areas in the UAE on Sunday morning, and lasted for 9 hours, starting at 12:00 midnight, and continued until 9:00am, as a result of the country being affected by weak pressure surface systems accompanie­d by an atmospheri­c high extension in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Fogstarted­toformonna­hil,sweihan,alkhazna, Al Hayer and other areas in Al Ain, on Marghem, Murqab, Lahab and Al Marmoom in Dubai, on Al Dhaid, Al Bataeh and Al Madam in Sharjah, on Al Ain Airport and separate areas in Abu Dhabi.

The lowest temperatur­e in the country, 20.7°C was recorded on Sunday morning, in Rakna in Al Ain city, at 06:30am, local time in the UAE.

The National Centre of Meteorolog­y (NCM) expected that the weather of Monday and Tuesday to be generally clear and partly cloudy at times, with the possibilit­y of some convective clouds in the east and south in the aternoon.

It will be humid by night and Tuesday morning with a chance of fog or light fog formation over some coastal and interior areas.

Winds will be southeaste­rn turning to northweste­rly and northeaste­rly, light to moderate but active at times and stirring dust during the day, at a speed from 15 to 25 up to 35 kilometres/hr.

The sea is will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman.

The NCM pointed out that the weather on Wednesday will be generally clear and dusty at times during the day with a chance of forming some convective clouds to the east and south which may be rainy in the aternoon.

It will be humid at night and on Thursday morning with a chance of fog or light fog formation over some coastal and inland areas. Winds will be southeaste­rly turning to northweste­rly, light to moderate in speed, active at times and stirring dust.

The sea will be light to moderate and may be turbulent at times in the west in the evening in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman.

Thursday’s weather is expected it to be generally clear, with a chance of some convective clouds to the east which might be rainy in the aternoon.

It will be humid at night and on Friday morning, with the possibilit­y of light fog formation over some inland areas. Winds will be southeaste­rly turning to northweste­rly, light to moderate, active at times and stirring dust.

The sea is moderate to light in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman. The sea will be moderate to light in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman, the NCM indicated.
