UAE and Oman to expand economic ties: Mohamed

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said that the longstandi­ng ties between the United Arab Emirates and Oman are characteri­sed by a shared social and cultural fabric based on deep bonds of brotherly relations between the two nations.

In a statement to mark his visit to the Sultanate, Sheikh Mohamed spoke of the special place that Oman holds in the hearts of the Emirati leadership and people.

He expressed his pride in the historical close relations between the leaders of the UAE and Oman, including Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq, and recalled the special brotherly bond enjoyed by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.

Commenting on these ongoing relations, Sheikh Mohamed stressed that ‘the leadership of the two countries will proceed, God willing, on their path and approach.’

Sheikh Mohamed stated that the UAE and Oman benefit from diverse economic and trade relations, which the two leaders are keen to expand through further collaborat­ion and investment.

Sheikh Mohamed stressed that the UAE supports measures to further strengthen regional cooperatio­n and progress, and is keen to work with its neighbours, including the Sultanate of Oman, to promote sustainabl­e developmen­t that enables people to realise their full potential.

The UAE President also said that the world was witnessing major transforma­tions that could pose challenges for nations, their people and their interests.

He stressed that these developmen­ts called for strong cooperatio­n between the countries of the region, particular­ly the GCC and Arab nations, in order to develop their own capabiliti­es to face future challenges.

Sheikh Mohamed and Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq, the Sultan of Oman, exchanged medals and gits at Al Alam Palace in Muscat on Tuesday.

Sheikh Mohamed has been awarded the Order of Al Said Medal by the Sultan of Oman.

The Sultan of Oman bestowed the honour upon Sheikh Mohamed on the first day of the UAE President’s state visit to the Sultanate.

The Order of Al Said is the highest order of Oman that can be granted, and is presented to presidents, monarchs and heads of state in appreciati­on of their exceptiona­l role in strengthen­ing relations between their countries and the Sultanate of Oman.

Sultan Haitham also presented His Highness Sheikh Mohamed with a traditiona­l Omani sword.

Sheikh Mohamed awarded Sultan Haitham the Order of Zayed as an expression of the bonds of brotherhoo­d that unite them and in recognitio­n of His Majesty’s efforts to further boost cooperatio­n between the UAE and Oman.

The Order of Zayed is the highest decoration awarded by the UAE and is presented to kings, queens, heads of state and presidents.

Sultan Haitham was also presented with a model of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque by Sheikh Mohamed.

During the meeting on the first day of the UAE President’s state visit to the Sultanate of Oman, the two leaders spoke of the historical bonds between the two nations and discussed ways to strengthen these relations further.

Sultan Haitham welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and the UAE delegation, conveying his pleasure at their visit and his pride in the close ties that Oman and the UAE enjoy.

Sheikh Mohamed thanked His Majesty for the warm welcome extended to him and the UAE delegation and expressed his best wishes to the Sultan and the people of Oman.

Sheikh Mohamed and Sultan Haitham discussed opportunit­ies for building upon the growing economic ties between the UAE and Oman and areas where the two nations can increase collaborat­ion, including the investment, financial, industrial and cultural sectors.

Their talks centred around the two leaders’ shared vision for a secure and stable region that promotes sustainabl­e developmen­t and supports a thriving economy where people can realise their full potential.

Ater the official talks, Sheikh Mohamed and Sultan Haitham held a one-on-one session.

Upon arrival at the Palace, the UAE President’s convoy was accompanie­d by a guard of honour consisting of hundreds of members of the Royal Cavalry of Oman and the Royal Guard of Oman.

DUBAI: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisat­ion (MOHRE) announced that Saturday (Oct.8, 2022), 12th Rabi Al Awwal 1444, will be a paid holiday for the private sector in honour of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday.

Dr Abdulrahma­n Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisat­ion, issued a circular in the implementa­tion of the UAE Cabinet’s decision on official holidays for the public and private sectors in 2021 and 2022.

“We congratula­te President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Their Highnesses.”
