NSC forms panel to probe audio leaks

ISLAMABAD:THE National Security Commitee (NSC) has discussed the audio leaks and decided to form a high-powered commitee under Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to probe the mater.

The intelligen­ce chiefs briefed the NSC on the probe being conducted into the audio leaks so far and highlighte­d the vulnerabil­ities.

Also, a military commanders meeting was held which discussed the security situation.

The NSC meeting was atended by the services chiefs and key ministers.

The chiefs of intelligen­ce agencies briefed the forum about the undergoing investigat­ions into the ‘audio leak’ besides highlighti­ng vulnerabil­ities at the Prime Minister House and other important installati­ons.

The NSC was also informed of the emergent steps being taken to overcome in future the cybersecur­ity related vulnerabil­ities of the PM House and other critical offices and installati­ons.

The NSC meeting directed the Ministry of Law and Justice to drat a legal framework related to cybersecur­ity. It reviewed the rescue, relief efforts and the massive damages caused by biblical floods while offering Fateha for the lives lost since mid-june.

The meeting praised the armed forces for their role in rescue and relief efforts. It also paid homage to the martyrs who lost their lives in army helicopter crashes.

The NSC resolved that the relief and rehabilita­tion of the flood victims across the country will remain the top priority and the momentum of the present efforts will continue till the eventual rehabilita­tion of each and every flood victim.

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood briefed the meeting on the SCO summit held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and the UN General Assembly where the prime minister met several heads of states and government­s.

Former Informatio­n Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chauhdry has claimed that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General

Qamarjaved­bajwahadin­formedex-primeminis­ter Imran Khan multiple times that the Prime Minister House is unsafe for important conversati­ons.

Chauhdry told a TV channel that the army chief had repeatedly suggested to Khan to debug Prime Minister House by using the latest technology, as according to Bajwa, “it was not safe to talk at the Prime Minister House.”

“The army chief told Khan that the points that we discuss here are recorded and leaked later on,” he said.”
