Dubai Police add first electric vehicle to luxury patrol fleet

The E-HS9 can sprint from0 to 100km/h in 5 seconds. The bater y can be charged from 0-100% in about 6 to 8 hours

The Dubai Police General Command has added to its fleet of luxury patrol cars the first electric SUV vehicle, Hongqi E-HS9, from ONEROAD Automotive Company.

Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-chief for Criminal Investigat­ion Affairs, announced the official launch of the Hongqi E-HS9 by Mrs Jojo Zhang Chengling, Executive Vice President of ONEROAD, at the Dubai Police Officers Club in the presence of Maj. Gen. Saeed Al Malik, Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue, and a group of officers and employees from both sides.

Expert Maj. Gen. Al Mansouri praised the close cooperatio­n with the firm, reaffirmin­g that Dubai Police are always keen on promoting the safety and security of the emirate, and maintainin­g its position as one of the world’s safest destinatio­ns. “Through adding supercars within its fleet of luxury patrol vehicles, Dubai Police enhance the security presence of police officers across essential tourist destinatio­ns, including the Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed

Bin Rashid Boulevard, JBR, etc.,” he explained.

“Dubai Police have always sought to add the most efficient, flexible and latest models of vehicles to their fleet to deal with various situations. These electric vehicles would improve traffic police performanc­e and help achieve Dubai Police’s strategic objective of maintainin­g roads safety and security,” Al Mansouri added.

The Hongqi E-HS9 is the first full sports utility vehicle of the Hongqi brand with the functional­ity of an SUV. The E-HS9 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. The batery can be charged from 0-100% in about 6 to 8 hours. The E-HS9 electric vehicle can travel approximat­ely 440 km on a charge.

The metallic painted E-HS9 looks modern and stylish in a simplistic way. It has multiple advanced and modern screens. All screens in the car can realise informatio­n synchronis­ation.

Toward the end of the official handover ceremony, Expert Maj. Gen. Al Mansouri gited Mrs Jojo Zhang Chengling a commemorat­ive shield and a certificat­e of appreciati­on on this occasion.

Recently, the Dubai Police General Command responded to a request of an Irish man asking them to fulfil his cancer-stricken nephew’s wish. The child named Adam is passionate about the world of cars.

The child’s uncle sent an e-mail to the Dubai Police expressing his desire to make his nephew, 7, happy, as he was being treated for cancer and was fascinated by cars.

Major Ali Yousef Al Ali, Head of the Cultural Diversity Department in the Security Awareness Department of the Dubai Police, affirmed that the competent department started realising the child’s desire.

They photograph­ed Dubai Polce’s luxury sports patrol cars’ features and showed them to Adam, through a video in coordinati­on with his uncle which made Adam happy.

Ater receiving the video, the child’s uncle thanked the Dubai Police for their keenness to make his nephew happy.

The uncle expressed his joy and great gratitude to the Dubai Police.

It is reported that Adam received many support messages from a number of police department­s and internatio­nal celebritie­s, wishing him speedy recovery.

A report last year said the Aston Martin Vantage officially joined the internatio­nally acclaimed Dubai Police fleet, dressed in full livery complete with flashing lights.

The agile, performanc­e-driven Vantage will be seen on Dubai’s roads alongside an enviable collection of sports and supercars used to service the police force and drive public engagement, the report added.

Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri received a detailed handover of the vehicle in the presence of a number of senior officers. Maj. Gen. Al Mansouri praised the close co-operation with Aston Martin Lagonda LimitedMEN­A, and explained that through adding super cars to its fleet of luxury patrol vehicles, Dubai Police enhanced the security presence of police officers during internatio­nal events and across important tourist destinatio­ns.
