SHOW OF POWER

-

It’s so unfortunate that when the world is facing many challenges, the powerful countries are engaged in asserting their mighty power (“North Korea fires ballistic missiles, marking fourth in a week,” Oct.1, Gulf Today website).

According to reports, North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward the sea off the east coast on Saturday, South Korea’s military said, marking Pyongyang’s fourth launch in a week as it ratchets up tension around the Korean peninsula.

The launch comes ater the navies of South Korea, the United States and Japan staged trilateral anti-submarine exercises on Friday for the first time in five years, and follows a visit by US Vice President Kamala Harris to the region this week.

At the time of global warming, the world is struggling with devastating monsoon rains and flooding that have claimed huge human losses, destroyed small towns and villages, and cultivated agricultural lands have been vanished by flood waters. Road infrastructure has completely been destroyed in many parts of the world by floods. But the powerful countries are not focusing on climate change, they are unfortunately engaged in the race to show off their military power.

I hope the sense of peace will prevail in the world. The biggest challenge the world is facing right now is climate change. It’s so important to focus on global warming, because in the coming years, the climate change situation will be out of control. Climate change issue is the issue of the survival of the world. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Nothing is impossible. I am sure we can address and solve the problem of climate change unitedly for a beter world.
