MOHAP enriches initiatives to make mental health stronger

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has hosted a meeting for the National Committee for the Promotion of Mental Health to discuss how to effectively carry out the initiatives that fall under the National Policy for the Promotion of Mental Health.
Hosted at its headquarters in Dubai, the meeting also explored ways to promote mental health, develop and expand the scope of comprehensive and integrated mental health services, and consolidate multi-sectoral cooperation between the involved authorities.
The meeting was atended by Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-secretary for the Public Health Sector, Chairman of the Commitee, and Dr. Lubna Al Shaali, Director of Health Policies and Legislation Department, and Vice Chairman of the Commitee. Also, present were representatives of health authorities and partners from various public and private sectors.
The gathering touched on mechanisms for the prevention of mental disorders, how to employ information systems and conduct research to enhance the integration of patients into society as well as to improve their quality of life to achieve social welfare.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Rand stressed the importance of the commitee’s role and its vital tasks, which include developing a package of initiatives to achieve an innovative, sustainable, and scalable model of mental health care as well as seting policies that would drive change according to a future-oriented vision aimed at creating a healthier and happier society.
Al rand also emphasis ed that promoting mental health is one of the government’s priorities and one of the most important pillars of strategic planning. With that in mind, the commitee is making every effort to come up with procedures that ensure the realization of the national policy for the promotion of mental health while also providing the highest quality of health services to society, whether it be for prevention, treatment, or rehabilitation.
For her part, Dr. Al Shaali said that the meeting discussed the latest developments concerning the implementation of the national policy for the promotion and evaluation of mental health. She underscored that the Commitee is keen on improving coordination between all relevant bodies and sectors to ensure the integration and combination of efforts in the field of mental health promotion in the country.
BE BOLD PROGRAMME: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has launched the second edition of “BE BOLD”, a healthcare innovation and future foresight programme, during a ceremony held at Dubai’s Etihad Museum.
The first-of-its-kind federal initiative aims to design the future of healthcare in an innovative and proactive way, by building the capabilities of UAE talents and supporting them with necessary resources through a single plaform that connects innovators, businessmen, start-up companies, and health service providers with one another.
The programme, which runs from 21 st september to 24th November under the theme “Together For Health UAE”, includes mentoring sessions and workshops to be delivered by experts in design thinking, future foresight, policy design and entrepreneurship. It will be implemented in partnership with the Dubai Health Authority, the Emirates Health Services Corporation, and Viatris, Klaim, and Johnson & Johnson companies.
The programme is set to strengthen the country’s leading position as a preferred destination for distinguished talents looking for an atractive environment that fuels their innovation, supports their business and promotes their investment.
The official launch event was atended by Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, Director-general of Emirates Health Services (EHS), Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-secretary for the Public Health Sector, Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant under-secretary for the health regulation Sector, MOHAP, and Salem Al Darmaki, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Prevention. Also present were officials from the Dubai Health Authority and representatives of the programme’s partners.
BE BOLD is the first innovation programme of its kind that combines technologies and tools for entrepreneurs, future foresight, and design thinking to build government policies and programmes that will shape the future of healthcare. additionally, it will solidify MOHAP’S reputation as a trailblazing entity in the development of government work systems.
