Job fair for People of Determination held
SHARJAH: The Masarat Center for Development and Empowerment of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) organised on Thursday the 1st job fair for people of determination in cooperation with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The fair was held at the House of Wisdom, with 13 government and private entities participating.
The event was attended by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, SCCI’S Chairman, Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, SCCI’S Directorgeneral, Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties, as well as SCCI board members and a number of senior officials.
Sheikha Jamila Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), said that the job fair for people of determination is a significant step towards promoting social and economic empowerment for this group and providing them with job opportunities at various entities. It also helps them overcome the challenges they face and provides access to job opportunities in the labour market.
Sheikha Jamila stated that the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services will continue to develop programs and initiatives that will deliver support and care for people of determination, adding that according to the latest approved statistics, 67 out of SCHS’S 650 employees have disabilities.
For his part, Al Owais said that the Sharjah Chamber has sponsored and supported the job fair as a demonstration of its commitment to social responsibility and is in implementation of the wise vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. “We are committed to supporting and empowering people with determination through constructive initiatives and programs to help them contribute to the development process.”
Al Owais went on to say that the Chamber has launched several initiatives to empower people of determination, including the addition of a new category to the “Sharjah Excellence Award” named “Sharjah Award for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities” to give special attention and open investment opportunities for them, adding that supporting this category in the labour market will remain one of our top priorities towards society.
