Job fair for People of Determinat­ion held

SHARJAH: The Masarat Center for Developmen­t and Empowermen­t of the Sharjah City for Humanitari­an Services (SCHS) organised on Thursday the 1st job fair for people of determinat­ion in cooperatio­n with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The fair was held at the House of Wisdom, with 13 government and private entities participat­ing.

The event was attended by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, SCCI’S Chairman, Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, SCCI’S Directorge­neral, Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulti­es, as well as SCCI board members and a number of senior officials.

Sheikha Jamila Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitari­an Services (SCHS), said that the job fair for people of determinat­ion is a significan­t step towards promoting social and economic empowermen­t for this group and providing them with job opportunit­ies at various entities. It also helps them overcome the challenges they face and provides access to job opportunit­ies in the labour market.

Sheikha Jamila stated that the Sharjah City for Humanitari­an Services will continue to develop programs and initiative­s that will deliver support and care for people of determinat­ion, adding that according to the latest approved statistics, 67 out of SCHS’S 650 employees have disabiliti­es.

For his part, Al Owais said that the Sharjah Chamber has sponsored and supported the job fair as a demonstrat­ion of its commitment to social responsibi­lity and is in implementa­tion of the wise vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. “We are committed to supporting and empowering people with determinat­ion through constructi­ve initiative­s and programs to help them contribute to the developmen­t process.”

Al Owais went on to say that the Chamber has launched several initiative­s to empower people of determinat­ion, including the addition of a new category to the “Sharjah Excellence Award” named “Sharjah Award for Entreprene­urs with Disabiliti­es” to give special attention and open investment opportunit­ies for them, adding that supporting this category in the labour market will remain one of our top priorities towards society.
