DUBAI: The Dubai Public Prosecution referred an African woman and two compatriots to the Criminal Court on charges of detaining a person in an apartment in Dubai.

The details of the incident date back to August 2022, when an African national submited a report complaining that his friend had been detained in an apartment, and that he had received a call from him asking him to bring Dhs800 to a place he told him about.

The complainant added that he hurried to that place where he met one of the suspects, who asked him for Dhs800 to set his friend free, but he told him that he did not have the amount, and then he rushed to the apartment where his friend was held in the same area and called the police.

Accordingtothecasefile, ateamofinvestigators rushed to the location of the complaint, who guided them to the place where his friend was held. The police raided the place and arrested the suspects.

On being questioned, the victim said in the interrogations that he accepted the woman’s invitation to her house, but when he reached there, she asked for Dhs800 which he had previously borrowed from her.

He reportedly told her that he had no money at the present time, so he was suddenly atacked by two people who held him and asked him to contact his friend to bring the amount.

The woman admited that the victim borrowed a sum of money from her and he was delaying to return it, so she connived with two friends (the other suspects) to help her get the money, ater she asked the victim to come to her house where she held him with the help of the two accomplices.

Recently, the Dubai Criminal Court sent an Asian gang of 6 behind bars for one year, to be followed by deportation ater serving their sentences, and fined them jointly $152,118.

The gang allegedly stole gold bars, precious watches and jewellery from a villa in Jumeirah.

In detail, a European woman, in August 2022, submited a report complaining that her home had been robbed, and she testified in the interrogations that she found, on the evening of the incident, that the outer door of her home was broken.
