UAE, Pakistan pledge to strengthen bilateral ties
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday arrived in the city of Rahim Yar Khan during his visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Upon his arrival at the airport, Sheikh Mohamed was received by Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and a number of ministers and senior officials.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the historical Uae-pakistan ties and opportunities of enhancing joint cooperation in a way that serves the mutual benefit of the two countries and their peoples across various domains, which falls within the framework of the two countries’ strategic partnership.
Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the visit of Sheikh Mohamed to Pakistan, stressing that it represents a strong drive towards developing the relations of the two friendly countries.
The two parties discussed various cooperation paths especially in the fields of economy, trade and development, which are in line with the two countries’ sustainability objectives.
They also discussed several issues of common interest, and exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, said that the brotherly relations between the two countries went back many decades and his father, who had immense love for Pakistan and its people, laid the foundation of their bilateral ties.
He further said that he considers Pakistan as his second home and assured Shahbaz that the UAE would always stand by Pakistan.
For his part, Sharif reaffirmed his country’s pride in the historical Uae-pakistan relations, expressing his appreciation to the UAE for its continuous support to Pakistan in various conditions, especially in the development fields.
“Extremely delighted to receive my brother His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed on his arrival in Pakistan, which is his second home. Building on our last meeting, we discussed ways & means to further strengthen our brotherly relations,” the prime minister wrote on Twiter.
The meeting was atended by Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; Ali Mohammed Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-general of the Supreme Council for National Security; and Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan.
In atendance from the Pakistani side were Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan; Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister of Pakistan; Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Interim Chief Minister of Punjab; and a number of officials.
A couple of weeks ago, the UAE and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have affirmed their keenness to intensify consultations and coordination in order to strengthen their strategic partnership, with a view to developing tangible and meaningful bilateral cooperation in key areas.
This came in a joint statement which the two countries issued on the occasion of the visit of Shahbaz Sharif to the UAE.
Sharif paid a visit to the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed on Jan.12-jan.13, 2023. This was thesharif’s third visit ater assuming office.
Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, wherein the Paksitan premier was presented with a guard of honour at the Presidential Palace.
In the most warm and cordial meeting, the two leaders held detailed discussions on concrete measures to strengthen the bilateral relationship while also exchanging views on regional political and security maters.
They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in political, defense, economic, commercial and cultural areas, developing joint ventures, and strengthening collaboration in the human resource sector.
Shahbaz Sharif thanked Sheikh Mohamed for UAE’S generous assistance during the recent floods in Pakistan, particularly through an air bridge established for this purpose.
With a view to developing tangible and meaningful bilateral cooperation in key areas, the two sides agreed to intensify consultation and coordination geared to strengthening strategic partnership and cooperation, particularly in the field of information and communication technologies and work together for bridging the digital divide.
