Sultan Bin Ahmed hails institutio­ns’ work

The meeting reviewed a video report of the SBA on the Authority’s most important projects and the developmen­ts in the decentrali­sed transforma­tion in human and financial resources

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, chaired Monday’s regular meeting of the council ats harj ah media city( sh ams ).

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed hailed the efforts of the institutio­ns under the council’s umbrella during the past period, appreciati­ng the positive results achieved, which come in accordance with the strategic and operationa­l plans set by the council, wishing success to all institutio­ns in the next stage.

The meeting began with the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by an explanatio­n by sh ams, through a visual presentati­on, highlighti­ng the most important developmen­ts in Sh arjahm edi a city, in terms of commercial licensing, media projects and real estate projects, in addition to advanced technologi­cal projects, social media channels and external participat­ions and events.

The meeting reviewed a video report of the Sharjah Broadcasti­ng Authority on the Authority’s most important projects and the developmen­ts in the decentrali­sed transforma­tion in human and financial resources. The meeting also reviewed the Authority’s participat­ion in the upcoming exhibition­s and conference­s including in the Global Media Congress, MEP Com in addition to the Authority’s participat­ion in showcasing new experience­s through GITEX, and hosting the New York WILD Film Festival competitio­n.

The meeting dealt with a report by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, which included the most prominent figures and statistics that were monitored by the media for events and news reports at the level of the emirate, in addition to the spread of media material on the geographic­al scale and the various media. The output of the profession­al diploma of the Official Spokespers­on Programme, as well as the participat­ion of the Bureau in the upcoming events and festivals including the Internatio­nal Government Communicat­ion Forum and the Sharjah Government Communicat­ion Award were also discussed during the meeting.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council was briefed on the visual presentati­on of the Artificial Intelligen­ce plaform that is being developed by Shams, listening to a brief about its most prominent specificat­ions, its work mechanism, the method of feeding it with informatio­n, and the percentage of project completion. The plaform will also serve many sectors in the country, including media, government and education. It is scheduled to be launched on a later date.

Recently, it was reported that Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams) Dr Khalid Al Midfa said that Shams had achieved a notable increase in the number of new licences for companies in recent years, with a target of achieving over 10% growth by year-end.

In a statement to WAM on the sidelines of the Annual Investment Meeting, Al Midfa explained that Shams had implemente­d many projects to develop the media and creative sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE as a whole.

The Annual Investment Meeting, he noted, is an important plaform that brings together regional and global investors and companies, as it provides a valuable opportunit­y for Shams to interact with investors and companies and exhibit its investment opportunit­ies in the media sector to expand its business network.

“This contribute­s to establishi­ng a new approach to entreprene­urship based on innovative ideas that enhance creative industries,” he added.

Al Midfa stated that Shams supports start-ups with specialise­d programmes to help them continue their work, grow and thrive and engage in the media and creative sectors. It also supports the growth of innovative entreprene­urs by granting licences that meet their future needs in the best way possible.

He also emphasised that Shams enjoys excellent interest from company owners, as evidenced by the significan­t growth in the number of new licences. By participat­ing in the Annual Investment Meeting, Shams aims to showcase the investment opportunit­ies available in the media sector and atract new investors from both inside and outside the UAE.

Shams supports economic growth through its strong global network of companies, expands business establishm­ent operations, provides a comprehens­ive technology system and supports entreprene­urs in various sectors.
