SEC approves 2,500 residentia­l and investment plots’ grants

SHARJAH: Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday chaired the Executive Council meeting at the office of the Ruler of Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, was also present.

The meeting discussed a number of topics related to the progress of government work, plans to develop government services, and the implementa­tion of different developmen­tal and national projects and initiative­s in Sharjah.

The council approved the second batch of those eligible for residentia­l and investment land grants for 2023 in Sharjah, with a total of 2,500 beneficiar­ies.

The plots were distribute­d among Sharjah’s cities and regions, including 1,050 residentia­l plots, and 1,450 investment ones, ater fulfilling the conditions and with the approval of the second batch.

As a result, the total number of plots granted for the two batches in 2023 reached 4,000.

The council reviewed the outputs of the municipal forum of heads of municipal councils and municipali­ties’ directors in Sharjah, which aims to strengthen the work of municipal councils and municipali­ties, enhancing cooperatio­n to achieve strategic goals, providing an effective work environmen­t, and identifyin­g future projects.

The report included the best practices followed by the municipal councils and municipali­ties of Sharjah in various services to develop and unify them through all the emirate’s municipali­ties for easy and fast services using the latest technologi­es.

In March this year, the SEC had approved the first batch of housing subsidy beneficiar­ies in 2023 that includes 502 beneficiar­ies with a total of Dhs378 million.

The first batch included the loans and grants categories in all regions of Sharjah, and is distribute­d across new constructi­on, completion and maintenanc­e, and ownership of government housing.

The meeting also saw the approval of the list of those exempted from repaying housing loans, amounting to 41 beneficiar­ies, at a cost of Dhs29 million.

The SEC discussed the report on the legislativ­e system and its impact on the emirate’s economy and its contributi­on to enhancing its competitiv­eness.

Over the past years, legislatio­n had multiple amendments to keep pace with Sharjah’s growth, enhance government performanc­e, and provide beter opportunit­ies for investors.

Moreover, the Council had reviewed the Department of Town Planning and Survey’s digital transforma­tion report, including the past years’ efforts in digital transforma­tion and benefiting from internatio­nal practices to improve the customer experience.

It also reviewed the department’s digital transforma­tion strategy for 2022-2024.

In its meeting on May 2,2023, the SECAP-proved, on Tuesday, the “Genetic Coding Programme” project to classify biodiversi­ty in the Emirate of Sharjah, which is the first of its kind in the region.

The project aims to create a unified database of genetic coding for the types of living organisms, harness laboratori­es to determine the identity of living organisms at the DNA level, facilitate access to data and make it available to the scientific community and contribute to the developmen­t of plans to preserve living organisms.

In addition to providing the Internatio­nal Union for Conservati­on of Nature with informatio­n to contribute to evaluation of red lists, and the qualificat­ion of national cadres in the field of genetic coding research.

In keeping with the great developmen­t in the aviation sector and in conjunctio­n with the growth witnessed in the Emirate of Sharjah, the SEC approved two drat laws reorganisi­ng the Department of Civil Aviation and the Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), and directed to refer the two drats to the Sharjah Consultati­ve Council (SCC) to complete its legislativ­e session.

The SEC reviewed the response of the Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs Department (SDVAD) to the recommenda­tions of the SCC, regarding discussing the SDVAD’S policy, which comes in the interest of strengthen­ing government work, enhancing cooperatio­n with society and achieving its aspiration­s in line with the emirate’s vision.

During one of its meeting in March this year, the SEC discussed issues concerned with developing government work, implementi­ng various projects, and issuing more regulatory legislatio­n for all sectors in the emirate.

The SEC issued a decision stipulatin­g the secondment of Salem Omar Salem, Executive Director of the Sharjah Book Authority, to the Islamic World Educationa­l, Scientific and Cultural Organisati­on (ICESCO), to be the director of the organisati­on’s regional office in the Emirate of Sharjah, provided that the secondment is for a period of one year from its date, and it may be extended for a similar period or periods by a decision from SEC.
