SEC approves 2,500 residential and investment plots’ grants
SHARJAH: Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday chaired the Executive Council meeting at the office of the Ruler of Sharjah.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, was also present.
The meeting discussed a number of topics related to the progress of government work, plans to develop government services, and the implementation of different developmental and national projects and initiatives in Sharjah.
The council approved the second batch of those eligible for residential and investment land grants for 2023 in Sharjah, with a total of 2,500 beneficiaries.
The plots were distributed among Sharjah’s cities and regions, including 1,050 residential plots, and 1,450 investment ones, ater fulfilling the conditions and with the approval of the second batch.
As a result, the total number of plots granted for the two batches in 2023 reached 4,000.
The council reviewed the outputs of the municipal forum of heads of municipal councils and municipalities’ directors in Sharjah, which aims to strengthen the work of municipal councils and municipalities, enhancing cooperation to achieve strategic goals, providing an effective work environment, and identifying future projects.
The report included the best practices followed by the municipal councils and municipalities of Sharjah in various services to develop and unify them through all the emirate’s municipalities for easy and fast services using the latest technologies.
In March this year, the SEC had approved the first batch of housing subsidy beneficiaries in 2023 that includes 502 beneficiaries with a total of Dhs378 million.
The first batch included the loans and grants categories in all regions of Sharjah, and is distributed across new construction, completion and maintenance, and ownership of government housing.
The meeting also saw the approval of the list of those exempted from repaying housing loans, amounting to 41 beneficiaries, at a cost of Dhs29 million.
The SEC discussed the report on the legislative system and its impact on the emirate’s economy and its contribution to enhancing its competitiveness.
Over the past years, legislation had multiple amendments to keep pace with Sharjah’s growth, enhance government performance, and provide beter opportunities for investors.
Moreover, the Council had reviewed the Department of Town Planning and Survey’s digital transformation report, including the past years’ efforts in digital transformation and benefiting from international practices to improve the customer experience.
It also reviewed the department’s digital transformation strategy for 2022-2024.
In its meeting on May 2,2023, the SECAP-proved, on Tuesday, the “Genetic Coding Programme” project to classify biodiversity in the Emirate of Sharjah, which is the first of its kind in the region.
The project aims to create a unified database of genetic coding for the types of living organisms, harness laboratories to determine the identity of living organisms at the DNA level, facilitate access to data and make it available to the scientific community and contribute to the development of plans to preserve living organisms.
In addition to providing the International Union for Conservation of Nature with information to contribute to evaluation of red lists, and the qualification of national cadres in the field of genetic coding research.
In keeping with the great development in the aviation sector and in conjunction with the growth witnessed in the Emirate of Sharjah, the SEC approved two drat laws reorganising the Department of Civil Aviation and the Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), and directed to refer the two drats to the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) to complete its legislative session.
The SEC reviewed the response of the Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs Department (SDVAD) to the recommendations of the SCC, regarding discussing the SDVAD’S policy, which comes in the interest of strengthening government work, enhancing cooperation with society and achieving its aspirations in line with the emirate’s vision.
During one of its meeting in March this year, the SEC discussed issues concerned with developing government work, implementing various projects, and issuing more regulatory legislation for all sectors in the emirate.
The SEC issued a decision stipulating the secondment of Salem Omar Salem, Executive Director of the Sharjah Book Authority, to the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO), to be the director of the organisation’s regional office in the Emirate of Sharjah, provided that the secondment is for a period of one year from its date, and it may be extended for a similar period or periods by a decision from SEC.
