Women key to shaping a sound future: UAE leaders
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said on the occasion of the International Women’s Day that women play key role in shaping a more peaceful, prosperous, and vibrant future for all.
“On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the essential contributions of women worldwide in shaping a more peaceful, prosperous, and vibrant future for all. Every day, your drive to achieve collective progress and uplit others in success serves as a lasting inspiration in the UAE and around the world,” President Sheikh Mohamed said in a tweet on the X plaform.
Meanwhile, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, , said in a tweet on the X plaform: “A woman is a symbol of happiness... a symbol of sacrifice... a symbol of life... a symbol of equality... a symbol of warmth, tenderness and love... a woman is a symbol of everything beautiful.
On International Women’s Day, we say... Every year, the women of the world are more beautiful, more successful, and beter... Every year, all our mothers, sisters, and daughters are in good health, God willing.
The International Women’s Day, which is observed annually on March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s theme is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.”
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), congratulated the women of the UAE and the entire world on the occasion of International Women’s Day, wishing them further success and leadership.
People around the world marked International Women’s Day on Friday with protests, demonstrations and celebrations.
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, warmly welcomed participants gathered to commemorate International Women’s Day at a grand event held at the premises of the Embassy in Abu Dhabi. “This day is a reminder for our collective efforts to achieve gender parity and equality in all spheres of life. The current statistics on gender parity highlight the need for more concrete efforts and measures to achieve our goal women empowerment,” emphasised the ambassador.
Tirmizi said that in line with this year Women Day’s theme, we need to invest in women so that we can accelerate progress; especially focusing on addressing women economic disempowerment. He underlined the importance of ensuring inclusivity by engaging women in political, economic and cultural spheres.
India has launched three landmark initiatives to promote entrepreneurship among women on the occasion of International women’s Day.
In the run-up to events marking International women’s Day, Narayan Rane, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), said India now has 14 million MSMES led by women.
The three new initiatives launched this year to encourage women entrepreneurship include a mentorship plaform called the “Mentorship Scheme” under the Ministry’s women Entrepreneurship Plaform (WEP).
