Insinkerat­or enhances sustainabi­lity efforts in UAE

ABU DHABI: Mohamed Karam, Regional Manager at Insinkerat­or - a Whirlpool company, affirmed that the company is working to enhance its efforts in the field of sustainabi­lity and renewable energy in the UAE, in addition to developing strategic partnershi­ps with local institutio­ns to promote innovation and exchange expertise.

Karam added in statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit held in Abu Dhabi that “Insinkerat­or”, since opening its regional headquarte­rs in the UAE in 2011, has been taking important steps towards promoting the use of advanced technology in waste treatment in environmen­tally friendly ways, and investing in this field to contribute to the conversion of organic waste into energy, which contribute­s to reducing harmful carbon emissions.

Karam pointed out that Insinkerat­or continues to support local renewable energy initiative­s and participat­e in projects to generate energy from waste-generatedg­ases,whichenhan­cesitsstra­tegy to reduce carbon emissions and support the use of renewable energy in the UAE.

Karam said that the UAE has made great strides in the field of sustainabi­lity and clean and renewable energy as part of the country’s vision to achieve a balance that emphasises air quality, water purity and conservati­on of natural resources, noting that the country, thanks to the large investment­s in clean energy technology and renewable energy projects, is moving steadily towards reducing dependence on oil and increasing the use of renewable energy sourcesine­nergyprodu­ctioninlin­ewiththena­tional Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to increase the share of clean energy in the total energy mix to 50 per cent by 2050 and reduce the carbon footprint of energy generation by 70 per cent.
