Pak PM lauds UAE leadership for outstanding flood management
Sheikh Mohamed receives phone calls from King Abdullah and Shahbaz Sharif, expresses his appreciation for their warm sentiments towards the UAE and its people
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan received two phone calls from King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in which they expressed their wishes for the safety of the UAE and its people following the difficult weather conditions and heavy rains that the country witnessed recently.
Shahbaz Sharif hailed the UAE leadership for expeditiously responding to one of its worst rains and flooding in the country.
Over 254 millimetres of rain — about two years’ worth — fell on the Emirates in days.
Pakistanpm,whoheldatelephonicconversation with President Sheikh Mohamed, congratulated him for his government’s timely efforts to control the flooding-related damages that saved lives.
“The Prime Minister’s call was centered on his admiration for the strong resolve and impeccable efficiency with which the UAE leadership had confronted the challenges that had emerged from the recent rains in the country,” according to the statement issued by the PM Office in Islamabad.
Shahbaz commended the UAE President for demonstrating his outstanding leadership qualities and his strong commitment to ensuring the welfare of the Emirati people.
“Pakistan has also witnessed heavy rains in recent days, resulting in loss of many precious lives,” the PMO quoted the prime minister as saying. He called for collective actions to combat the challenge of climate change and suggested that both countries strengthen their collaboration in the field.
The UAE President expressed appreciation for the prime minister’s good wishes and reciprocated the warm sentiments for the people affected from rains and flooding in Pakistan. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation in multifaceted areas.
King Abdullah II affirmed his sincere wishes for God Almighty to protect the UAE and its people from all harm and grant them wellbeing and prosperity.
For his part, Sheikh Mohamed thanked his brother, King Abdullah II, and the Shahbaz Sharif and expressed his appreciation for their warm sentiments towards the UAE and its people, stressing the strength of the relations that unite the UAE with Jordan and Pakistan.
Under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and the follow-up of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Commitee of Crisis and Disaster Management, field teams from various government entities in the emirate continue to work around the clock to ensure the full restoration of services and smooth traffic flow on roads, following the recent extreme weather conditions experienced by the city.
In response to the situation, Dubai Municipality mobilised over 2,425 engineers, technicians, and workers. Operating around the clock and covering all regions, these teams are equipped to switly address emergencies resulting from the impact of rains, including water accumulation, clogged drains, and fallen trees. Their primary focus is to ensure the safety of all community members in Dubai and protect their lives and property.
In a separate development, Dubai-based construction giant Emaar Properties said on Friday that it will repair all rain-related damage in its residential complexes free of charge.
The announcement was made by Emaar Chairman Mohamed Alabbar, emphasising the company’s dedication to its residents.
“At Emaar Properties, we are deeply commited to the well-being and safety of all our residents and stakeholders. In response to the challenges posed by this adverse weather and heavy rains that Dubai has experienced in the past few days, I am pleased to announce that Emaar will undertake the repair of all properties within our communities that have been damaged by the recent rains at its own cost to ensure that our residents can return to their daily lives as switly and smoothly as possible,” Mohamed Alabbar stated.
