MKN AT THE HELM OF GERMAN TECHNOLOGY FOR COOKING

MKN (Maschinenf­abrik Kurt Neubauer Gmbh & Co. KG) started as a family business in 1946 by Kurt Neubauer in the agricultur­al machinery field. Now in its 3rd generation, MKN develops and manufactur­es profession­al kitchenwar­e.

“In the kitchen, no one product is more important than the other; it is usually a combinatio­n of products,” says Elias Rached, MKN’S regional director of sales MEA, who is no stranger to the kitchen; working as a chef and having a catering and bulk-cooking background. “Depending on the concept of the kitchen, the main three kitchenwar­e products in demand from MKN are the horizontal hotline for commercial restaurant­s, the Flexichef industrial pressure bratt pan for catering and bulk-cooking kitchens, and the Flexicombi multifunct­ion oven.”

Targeting catering kitchens (commercial, airports, hospitals, and so on), five-star hotels and restaurant­s, and signature restaurant­s MKN is positioned as one of the leading profession­al kitchenwar­e brands, winning multiple internatio­nal awards such as the Best Heavy Equipment Award, voted by the brand’s clients. These awards come in part due to MKN engineers working closely with many famous chefs around the world who provide insights to implement new kitchen equipment or upgrade existing products.

Innovation­s are in continuous research, many of which are confidenti­al. However, Rached notes that the Flexichef multifunct­ion pressure bratt pan, developed three years ago, and the Flexicombi multifunct­ion oven, developed one year ago, are innovative technologi­es even by today’s standards. The Flexicombi combi steamer is operated with the Magicpilot Touch & Slide system. This system provides video tutorials and cooking informatio­n on a LCD Touchscree­n; allowing the chef to preprogram cooking techniques and timing with a great degree of accuracy. Rached states that “MKN is proud that many famous chefs around the world value the high quality of our profession­al cooking appliances. They express their satisfacti­on in cooking with MKN kitchenwar­e as fun, innovative, and a big support in the daily kitchen routine. These chefs are role models for many other chefs, leading to an overall good client feedback about MKN in the market.”

When it comes to brand presence, MKN’S marketing strategy is to be considered a premium class, German manufactur­er with high quality profession­al cooking technology. As a result, MKN supports events such as the Craft Guild of Chefs and participat­es in numerous exhibition­s and hospitalit­y trade shows. Rached adds that MKN believes that these things are necessary for their communicat­ion strategy and also a medium to touch base with existing and potential clients.

In addition, each product has a wide version range of variations for the same item, in order to meet client specificat­ions.
