Sharjah Police raise Dhs25m at auction

SHARJAH: Sharjah Police Headquarte­rs managed to raise Dhs25.57 million in a public auction for 55 distinguis­hed number plates of category 3.

The auction, which was organised by Emirates Auction, was held at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah on Saturday night.

The 3 vehicle number plates (111303-3333) that were allocated by Sharjah Police Headquarte­rs to the “The Big Heart Foundation,” with the goal of supporting the foundation’s global humanitari­an projects, managed to raise Dhs2.82 million.

The number plate 3333 raised Dhs1.34 million, the number plate 111 raised Dhs1.2 million and the number plate 303 raised Dhs460,000.

The number plate 3 recorded the highest bid in the public auction and was sold for Dhs9 million. The number plate 30 witnessed the highest number of bids before being sold for Dhs3 million, while the number plate 44 recorded a winning bid of Dhs2.15 million.

Major-general Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-chief of the Sharjah Police, praised Emirates Auction’s organizati­on of the event and expressed his joy for the

amount that was raised for the “The Big Heart Foundation.” He also expressed his thanks and gratitude for all who participat­ed in the charity auction as it embodies the noble values that characteri­ses the people of THE UAE AND relects THEIR GREAT interest in helping those in need all around the world.

Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of the Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), lauded the public’s response to the auction, during which Sharjah Police dedicated complete proceeds from the sale of three plate numbers to support TBHF’S humanitari­an work worldwide.

The birth of this kind of selfless humanism, she said, is the result of the vision and direction offered to us by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperso­n of TBHF and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children.

Al Hammadi underlined that the initiative is the first fruit of TBHF’S strategic collaborat­ion with the Sharjah Police, which was materialis­ed in the signing of a Memorandum of Understand­ing between the two parties recently.

Expressing TBHF’S deepest gratitude to Sharjah Police and to Emirates Auction for organising the event, she stressed that local and global collaborat­ions are key to ensuring that TBHF expands its scope of operations to benefit larger sections of society.

SHE SPECIIED that THE Funds RAISED through this auction will go into supporting and empowering children and the youth in regions affected by turmoil and disasters.
