Amrouche retains 2012 Zebras
Veteran players have the knack and power to bring the best out of the youngsters and drive the team to success. Without many influential players in the team it becomes very difficult to execute tactics as a coach.
Consequently, the comparison between the 2012 team and the current team does not only end with players. The current technical team is also influential, after the 2012 Afcon, there hasn’t been any consistency as the past years were characterized by the hiring and firing of coaches.
From 2014 to date the team has hired five coaches; Peter Butler was appointed in 2014 and in 2017 Oris Radipotsane took over as caretaker coach when Butler’s contract was not renewed.
David Bright was appointed immediately after that and was sacked in 2019; Mogomotsi Mpote took over as caretaker coach until Adel Amrouche was appointed.
This does not spell consistency at all but with Tshosane he was with the national team for a very long time. He was the caretaker coach before the appointment of Jelusic Vaselin in 2002 and served as assistant coach to Colwyn Rowe from 2006 until he was appointed head coach.
Tshosane had seen the development of many players he coached including Diphetogo Selolwane, Pontsho Moloi, Mompati Thuma, Ndiyapo
Tsotso Ngele
Letsholathebe, Patrick Motsepe, Modiri Marumo and many others. Consequently, the coach knew and understood the type of players he was dealing with and the tactics he could instill in them to get the desirable results.
The current coach Adel Amrouche is a man still familiarizing himself and much should not be expected from him at the moment with just a year with the team.
