FUB busies uncontracted players
FOOTBALL
As football is slated to return in the near future after a long halt caused by the Covid 19 Pandemic, Footballers Union of Botswana ( FUB) is striving to get most players who are out of contract into shape before local football can return to the scenes.
In an interview this week, Secretary
General at FUB Kgosana Masaseng said they have gathered players in Francistown and Gaborone who will be in camp from now until December 5.
“The camp started on Monday in Gaborone and Francistown, they went through medical checks on Tuesday and have been in camp since then, the camp will run until the fifth of next month,” Masaseng said in an interview.
The purpose of these training
camps is to get players fit as they will play several matches that will help them attract the attention of teams, both in the elite league and the First Division. FUB has been helping out of contract players find teams where they would play football fulltime.
“The training camp is expected to give out of contract players an opportunity to continue showcasing their skill and potential for club
coaches to note and possibly sign them,” Masaseng said.
The Botswana Football As s o c i at i on ( BFA) announced that football will return as early as next year. Out of contract players are expected to conduct medical tests before returning to play, the tests include x- rays and ECG.
Nonetheless, more than 50 people are allowed at training sessions and during the games that FUB will host, supporters will not be allowed.
Teams of out of contract players are to have SHE officers to maintain a register on a daily basis and use infrared thermometers to record temperatures.
Some of the ou t of contract players are Lemponye Tshireletso who played for BDF XI and won several league titles with Mochudi Center Chiefs and Township Rollers, Dirang Moloi is also among the mix; he also played for Magosi and Popa wining several accolades.
