Raditladi undecided on defending her position
The President of the Botswana Net ball Association ( BONA), Malebo Raditladi is still undecided on whether she will seek her second term or she would be giving way for new blood at the elective congress later this year.
Speaking to BG Sport this week, Raditladi said she will soon decide on whether to return to BONA or not , adding that with full backing of the affiliates that she can deliver the mandate of the association.
“I won’t force myself onto the system, if I have support from the affiliates I will declare that I am contesting but if not then there won’t be any reason to contest in the upcoming elections.”
Further, she added that her job at BONA is a community development project where they are tasked with developing the needs of the netball community and sharing skills and knowledge. “It will be up to them, if they find what we have done for them worthy or not.
I have always said spor t development is not just activities but cultivating the ground for activities to happen. What we have done so far will surely give BONA those activities and will last for a lifetime if the next leadership can see light in what we have done. “
She adds that her wish is for BONA to have good sport development structures “We are aiming at training the teams on club administration, if we can be able to give them that before the end of our term then we would have achieved the basic major step of running an association,” she stressed.
“We have done our part in developing good governance and we are still developing some of the procedures on governance. It has to start with those who are managing teams to know how to run a team because the professionalism they want at national level starts with them.
When they are empowered then we are certain BONA will have good administrators.”
Additionally, she said they have done some work on the grassroots development programme, acquiring sport development fund, launching Re ba bona ha talent search festivals together with the LTAD plan and the development of athletes, coaches, technical officials and umpires through workshops.
“We have formed different committees to assist NEC in implementing operational structures such as athletes’commission, women’s committee, coaches’ committee, umpires’ technical committee, supporters committee, events committee, safeguarding committee and a medical team.”
They will have a foundation and good plan with well- equipped and knowledgeable people to implement their strategy, “if we can, we will do the draft that the next committee can work on and implement.”
