Kgarebe is already in the market

The legendary Jazz singer, Nono Siile has finally, released her brand new clothing line, dubbed ‘ Kgarebe’ which encapsulates the fashion desires of a decent, charismatic and ambitious woman.

The clothing line rings back to her very first album which was released in 2007, and the project has since been underway to further brand herself as a musician in business. She tells BG Style that the idea has been there with a few samples and she has now finally managed to stock enough merchandise for sale. “Being an artist means creativity, so I decided to release albums first, and later introduce my merchandise to my supporters, as it already happens in other countries, with established artistes owning their labels,” she said.

When she thought of ‘ Kgarebe’ as her clothing line, she imagined a decent woman, with greater ambitions and standards. “Kgarebe loosely translates to a beautiful woman of charisma, who knows their rights and what they want. Being a woman, I associate very well with this tagline and I encourage women to be elegant and have focus in life, hence I chose this title track for my clothing line,” she said. The label is illustrated with stiletto shoe, which showcases style, and aimed to motivate women to embrace the beautiful creation that they are. As new as the label is, Nono tells BG Style that the feedback she is getting from ladies is very impressive. “I am forever thankful to my supporters for their unwavering support especially during these hectic times for an artist, because people are buying this merchandise and just want to be associated with the brand,” she said. The merchandise so far include, stylish tops, masks, caps and leggings.

She is still identifying local stores to distribute this merchandise, as the plan is to reach across the country. “We also courier to outside Gaborone, to allow the merchandise to reach

interested customers, but I am also still identifying local stores for the convenience of the buyers across board,” she said. One of her fans, Amogelang Ramadila has applauded Nono for this project, saying that it was well thought of especially during this trying time when the industry is cancelled. “I am a loyal fan of Jazz music and Nono is one of those artistes close to my heart.

I am aware that the entertainment industry is currently dry, we don’t just love their music but also care about their wellbeing as our local artistes. So I am glad that she now has the merchandise that we can purchase to support her even when she does her online live shows as it seems to be the only option now. I am also impressed with the quality of the merchandise,” she said encouraging artistes to also think outside the box to survive this trying time.

Kgarebe is sponsored by Kgarebe wear and Nono reiterates that as winter approaches, they look forward to adding winter wear. “We would have warm winter dresses, scarfs, beanies and tracksuit for the winter stock,” she said. She also adds that in the future they will also cater for male merchandise.
