strictly followed and expectations were that there was only going to be ‘ one percent chance’ for anyone to be infected.

Though there was a glimmer of hope that football could return, with leaked fixtures flying off the internet, the fire was put out when government decided to suspend sports activities earlier this month.

Nonetheless, Minister of Youth Empowerment,

Sport and Culture Development ( MYSC), Tumiso Rakgare last week said the Botswana Football Association ( BFA) has the remaining of this month to produce a plan that will see how best they could resume play without compromising the Covid- 19 regulations and protocols. Rakgare said this during his motivation speech to the senior men’s national football team.

Reached for comment this week, Permanent Secretary at MYSC, Kago Ramokate said they are yet to receive any piece of work on how the association is to return to play, “We do not have any proposals from the BFA at this time,” he said.

Reached for comment the acting BFA Chief Executive Officer ( CEO), Thabiso Kebotsamang could not be reached as his phone rang unanswered by print time. It remains to be seen if the BFA would produce a convincing proposal that would allow them to resume play.

This week the Botswana Athletics Association ( BAA) was given a green light by the BNSC to return to competitions after they were barred from hosting any competitions following their failure to uphold the Covid- 19 regulations and protocols.
