Berry Heart fashion shop targets upmarket

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

Berry Heart Creations has finally opened a shopping outlet at Mowana Mall in Phakalane to meet the clientele’s needs and allow them a normal shopping lifestyle from a shop.

The roots of this shop comes from afar, back in 2015, when the creative Keotshepile Motseonageng, better known as Berry Heart introduced a lingerie line. In 2017, she introduced vests, and that was the elevation of the journey of the Berry Heart Creation, as more was added to these vests with time.

When she chose the business of selling clothes, she invested more on quality than quantity, she tells BG Style.

Motseonageng says that she had to familiarise herself with quality fabrics and also looked out for exquisite designs to make sure that she stands out within the fashion industry. She shares that after so many years of hard work, she is thankful to God for her shop now. Speaking to BG Style in an exceptional interview, the emotional Berry Heart says that the moment she saw the professionally branded shop awaiting the launch, she knew that it was the beginning and she aspires to do more and better in the future.

“I think my business acumen is amazing although there is always room for improvement. 99 percent of my clients are so impressed by our great service, and the Berry Heart team tries to put a smile on their faces with quality and good service,” she said.

This has all led to the launch opening of the shop in style, on an estate champagne breakfast, which attracted just a nominal attendance due to Covid- 19 regulations in place.

As she invests a lot in quality for her products, she tells BG Style that she benchmarks from three brands; Nike, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. She reiterates that this is what sets her apart from other clothing shops because she genuinely believes in authentic fabrics. “However, this is my last year with Nike, I have been ordering their products from the manufacturer just to benchmark on their quality. Nonetheless, I must admit that it was my first love, in sportswear,” she says, noting that her sportswear speaks for itself through its quality. Just recently they have launched Berry Heart female sportswear on tracksuits, which some of her clients even find it fit for dressing up than for gym. Her target market, she says, is the upper middle class and the high class because they understand what brands are and they prioritize quality, too.

She notes that she has identified a gap in the local market that, most shops in Botswana cater for the lower class, and so she wanted to fill this gap.

“I did not want to also concentrate on the similar market, but go for the higher class, and so far I am impressed by their feedback,” she says. The shop caters for both the young and the old, as she has also added the

Amari collection, which is her child’s clothing line for children in the store. Berry Heart indicates that they focus much on style than trends.

She believes that every fashion house should be unique in its own way, and they look forward to bring glamorous winter wear, for swagger even during winter.

“We are bringing new winter products and shoes this winter, and we promise they are of top notch fashion and quality,” Berry Heart said. The renowned musician, Vee Mampeezy who also embraces fashion was present at the event and encouraged Berry Heart to soldier on. He also spoke of good quality and said very often, people shy away when they see a price tag than have a touch of the material first.

“This is so much hardwork, we are proud of Berry Heart for this, especially during Covid- 19, when the creatives’ industry is suffering,” he said, urging all creatives and particularly artistes to come out and be creative on other aspects of creativity to boost the industry.
