Marung Development Services, a Mining Consultancy Service hosted its Inaguaration CSR Project in Letlhakane Village.

The Ceremony which took place on the 1st April 2021, in Phase 2 near Rethatoleng Grounds was officiated by Managing Director Mr Sebele Molalapata.

On his Speech he said;

Bagaetsho, It is indeed a great honor for me to be here today. We are meeting here at a time when we are facing challenges like we have never experienced. We are going into the third phase of the State of Public Emergency, and the cloud of uncertainty surrounding life with Covid- 19 and life after COVID- 19 is not about to go away anytime soon.

However, some things have remained the same. As an example, today 1st April, has often been referred to as April fool’s day. In fact, when my Team told me that the ground breaking ceremony was set for today, I told them not to make an April fool joke out of something so serious. And, yes, they were serious. What also didn’t change, Director of ceremonies, is our resolve as Marung Development Services to make an impact on the community in which we operate. Hence our presence here today.

Director of Ceremonies; today marks a milestone in a journey that started back in 2019 when I and the MDS management team were discussing the legacy that MDS would like to leave in the vicinity of the area where we work. We knew then, as we know now, that we operate within a unique society, and that the basic humane premise in this society, as in any society is that there are disadvantaged members amongst the community in this society. This is a thread that stretches across any society, even in the first world societies.

Our role then, Director of ceremonies, was to get closer to the Social Worker’s office and to move amongst the community to identify areas where we could make an impact, and bring hope into people’s lives. The journey took us to different areas around the Boteti East area, and eventually we landed here, at the Tsholofelo family. We know very much the plight of the children in the hostels around this catchment area, especially with the coming of winter. However, we note that, Director of Ceremonies, at least they have a roof over their head. Not like the Tsholofelo family. Director of Ceremonies, earlier on I spoke about bringing HOPE into people’s lives, as the objective of the CSR Initiatives by MDS. This is in line with Pillar 2 of the National Vision 2036 where it talks about Social Inclusion and Equality, as well as Social Upliftment.

Who better to bring hope ( Tsholofelo) to, Director of ceremonies, than to bring it to the Tsholofelo family. You see, Tsholofelo is Hope. And MDS brought hope to the Tsholofelo family through the construction of two houses, each one with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen, a toilet and a bathroom. This in addition to fencing the plot and connecting water into the plot.

Director of ceremonies, Baebela yare ‘ Go sego letsogo le le fang’, but I also want to quote Jeremiah 29, verse 11 which goes like this: - ‘ For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope’. I have no doubt, Director of ceremonies, that the Tsholofelo family will have a different future, a different form of peace in the home, and that Hope will have a new meaning to them when this project is completed. These are the thoughts that the Lord had towards the Tsholofelo family, through Marung Development Services.
