Leina Kefitlhile of Barand Scat’s Beauty Parlour, who is a mobile makeup artist is of the view that makeup is a beauty enhancer and depending on it is no option. She however says that makeup dependent people should consider a few tips to have their natural skin in check in order to maintain their natural glow. She advises that makeup is never to go to bed with, as the skin gets special rest while someone is asleep, helping to promote blood circulation and help the skin build cells freely. “Makeup dependent people should avoid going to bed with makeup at all costs.
It’s important to wash the face and remove those heavy foundations from the skin,” she said. Kefitlhile also adds that it is important for makeup dependent people to visit a spa once in a while to do facials, as that helps a lot in getting rid of old foundations or makeup.
She joined the makeup industry in 2017, and shares with BG Style that for her, it started as a mystery. “I have never seen myself as a makeup artist, until I came across Maxine Magwape’s videos and pictures on social media.
They were impressive and I gave it a try and turned out to be the makeup artist that I am today,” she said.
Maxine is one of the best makeup artists in the country, and her consistency has earned her trust for so many people especially for weddings and corporate events and even those who just want to be associated with her prestigious work. Kefitlhile says having been influenced by this makeup guru, she had to ensure that she does it so well. She says that it took her sometime, and on the other hand, she took interest in researching about taking care of the skin while using makeup as well as best products to use. “Most of the time, I use Rimmel Foundations from Clicks because they blend well, and for the powder I use Maybelline Matte to keep the oil from building up,” she said.
She emphasized that even though at times, a client comes with an idea of how they want to look like at the end of the makeup session, she always analyses the client first. “Makeup is different, and so it is important to know what type of makeup to wear and for what kind of an occasion. There is night makeup, work makeup and day makeup as well as makeup for fun occasions, so I always try to discuss this with my client first, then we proceed,” she says, adding that a lipstick should also match the skin tone. Kefitlhile also indicated that she takes makeup lessons seriously and learns every day to keep on perfecting her skills, as she treasures her business and aspires to be one of the outstanding makeup artists in the country. She laments that presently the business is low as there are no events and people rarely come to do makeup.
