Yoni Steaming BW is bringing something new to the local spa and care market. The local company is giving locals a chance to experience Alternative Treatment in a whole new way. A cursory internet search shows that Alternative, Integrative or complimentary medicine is the medical treatments that are used in the place of mainstream therapies.
The company, pioneered by Iona Omphile has opened the very first Yoni Steaming Spa in the capital city. Spas and their many treatments are not a new thing in the city but this one is totally different, and exclusive.
While some women have already tried, tested and are raving about the benefits of Yoni steaming, Yoni Steaming BW takes their product offering a notch higher. The word Yoni refers to a womb. And as the name suggests, Yoni Steaming is about steaming that area of the body.
While it is still new in Botswana, Yoni steaming is not new in other parts of the world. Found at House of Eden in the city centre, Yoni Steaming BW forms part of sundry businesses that call this beautiful and serene place home.
Until recently, some clients had the pleasure of doing the steaming from the privacy of their houses. But now, they can go out and enjoy this treatment in a whole new light. Before you ponder and wonder what this is all about, there is nothing to worry about.
The steaming is enjoyed from a room that is very private. This is how it works: A mixture of herbs that vary and may include your Basils, Oregano and many others are added to steaming hot water in a metal bowl/ container. A woman would squat over this mixture for up to 30 minutes.
The room itself is tranquil and it almost puts one at ease. You literally forget the reason for coming to this very room. Chawa will take you through the steps of what will happen here as well as some of the benefits of this treatment.
In a nutshell, the steaming is sort of like the ordinary steaming for flu but only that this one, is for down there! Also that this time around, you are steaming using herbs. A cup of herbal tea, a happy womb tea is given to clients to sip as they enjoy their treatment.
The founder of Yoni Steaming BW, Omphile, tells this publication that there is a whole lot of mystery around the body of a woman, especially how to take care of her anatomy.
Omphile is very fascinated by this fact, and through her business venture, wants to break down the walls around the topic, so that women can openly talk and discuss issues around their body freely.
She has always suffered from terrible period pains, cramps and mood swings. Two years ago, she was in Spain studying for her Masters when she came across Yoni Steaming.
She was intrigued by this discovery, and soon she was researching and learning about what it entails. Soon thereafter, she enrolled in a course to become a certified Yoni Steaming Practitioner.
Her research has shown that Yoni Steaming helps with cysts, fibroids, period pains, and even infertility. Other benefits include hormone imbalances, strengthening, tighten and toning vaginal walls, preventing yeast and chronic yeast infections to mention a few.
She explains just like true to her faith, she prays before she embarks on anything. And with this venture, she prayed.
“I started out by researching and trying out different herbs such as your Lavenders, basil, and also studied their benefits and use”, she says.
In her initiation, she started off by selling the herbs to clients. But when an opportunity to open a Spa came, she could not turn it down.
Locally, most of the raw herbs are not easy to find. What sets her apart from her one or two competitors is the fact that she does not want to sell or give her clients readily available herbs/ mixtures.
“I didn’t want them because I am particular about what I am giving clients. And I don’t want to mess around with people’s health”, she says. She insists that she is in this business to change lives and not to make a quick buck. The herbs are dried and used in their natural state. Ideally, she advises clients to use them in less than a year.
Feedback and reviews from her clients have been amazing, she says. They have come forward to share their experiences that range from having painless periods to even an improved time in the bedroom.
